Now, 99 is the least used number. I would assume plenty of numbers in the 60's, 70's and 80's aren't used by anyone currently.

The answer to the least common is likely a tie of several numbers that are not used at all (98 for example)

Hard to answer what number suits a player the best (I've seen 19 for Yzerman and 13 for Datsyuk.....but why?) I guess I'd have to say 87 for Crosby, born in the 8th month (August) on the 7th day in the year '87.

The least used is (or is at least tied with) 84. A big deal was made out of Guillaume Latendresse taking that number because it was the last number that had never been worn in the NHL.

91, 93 have been fairly common but 92, 94, 95, 97, 98 are all very rare.
