Ericsson back tonight; Janik back down to GR

Im glad Ericsson is playing. Even though I knew this meant Janik would be returning to GR it still sucks. I would have loved to see Meech or Lebda scratched in favor of keeping Janik in the line up.

well there's the answer... VERY glad big E is back, but very bummed that Janik is gone while Meech and Lebda waste space...

I have a question. Why do players coming off long injury layoffs NOT go down to AHL anymore for conditioning???? I have noticed that Zetterburg seems to take several games to get up to speed when he comes off an injury......Does the players union no longer allow players to be sent down?

Ericsson is much better than Lebda, Meech and Janik. This is great news. Some people make too much of the rookie mistakes Big E has been making this season.

I hope Babs lets him play on the PP. I see no reason why he wouldn't, but Ericsson has barely gotten any PP time this season so you never know.

No, the CBA still allows conditioning stints. A year ago, Chris Chelios came to GR for a few games before returning to the Wings when he had fractured his foot. This season, Grand Rapids first saw Michael Nylander on a two week conditioning assignment (he has now returned on a regular AHL assignment). In both Chelios' and Nylander's case, it was announced as being player-requested as opposed to being "sent".

Good news and bad news here.

Good news that Ericsson is back, but why can't Babcock see that Lebda and Meech are complete failures out there?

If they fused together into one being, combining all their skills and talent, they would still suck. With Janik we'd have a guy that can block shots, hit, fight, and not make stupid mistakes with the puck.

not to be negative but hopefully Ericsson's play picks up. Before he got injured he was playing quite average i believe. and sadly, that image of him getting dangled so bad earlier this year just wont go away. :/

I could find video of Lidstrom being dangled really bad. It happens to the best of them.

Janik will be back up when the rosters expand, I know not for like 3+ months, and I expect he will see considerable time over Lebda and Meech when he is up.

Question:

Can Janik be the injury call up for Kronwall (send down who was his call up and use Janik) or do the Wings have enough skaters the injury call up is void now?

Lebeech does indeed suck balls. And he's still only 5 feet tall, 120lbs. :P

It's more (or entirely) Holland's call than Babcock's, I think, but even if wasn't I'm sure Mike understands the value of depth. Even though Lebda and Meech suck, they don't suck more than some of the AHL scrubs the Wings would be forced to use if they had more injuries on the back end. The impact that Janik would bring by keeping him here isn't enough of a net gain that they would risk losing one of the other two just to keep Janik around for half the season.

Should they make the playoffs (which I still feel is likely), Babcock will be able to rotate any of those three in the 6th Dman spot at his leisure, and have competent enough reserves in case one should go down. This is the smart move, and really the only move, that management was going to make.

I think we've just created a new player.

LeBeech is probably the better way to spell it and pronounced like it sounds. He'll wear number 36, which combines their two numbers.

He'll be the fastest skater in the league, but have no physicality and won't know how to do anything on either side of the ice.
