He got to play with Lidstrom a little bit too. I'm sure that helped a lot.

As soon as he got that assist he looked like a different player-- more confident, more aggressive and stronger on the puck. It's weird how a point instantly changes a player's confidence :P

I've been the biggest Ericsson supporter/fan in the world, but he looked way out of place a lot tonight... I still think this all comes back to McCrimmon and the fact he hasn't had a solid d partner all year... on any note, something has to give, he's playing unsure and without conviction and I think the fights have been part to sell himself, part frustration

Dunno what he was trying to do on san jose's goal with 10 seconds left in the first. not sure why he was inside the crease leaving the Sharks player wide open with an empty net. He shows some shades of brilliance, but more times that note lately its been bone headed plays like this.

It's been all season almost every game he's in. Even at the Ranger's game at MSG I went to this year he sucked. Remember the brilliant giveaway to Callahan leading to a breakaway??

Ericsson is a tough call. Yes, he has been brutal including tonight, yet he has shown the capacity for competence in the playoffs last year. I wish he could go down to GR to get his head on straight, but he can't. He needs some confidence and coaching - neither of which he is getting from the wings right now. Long term, he will probably be a player if he learns to be a bit meaner, but he has no role models on this team. Actually, much like Quincey, he should try to bail out and re-establish his career elsewhere. I wish him the best.

2 Penalty minutes

1 Giveaway

10:48 of TOI (Interesting... )

So Babs actually limited Jonny's ice time. What made him do this? I mean, it's obvious to us here on LGW but what changed so that Babs actually thought, "Hey, maybe I shouldn't play him as much."

Isn't it interesting how you notice every second the worst d-man is on the ice? I swear 10 mnutes feels like 20 and that he is getting Lidstrom minutes. Usually this perception is reserved for Lebda, but lately E for sure.

Getting caught out of position too often and an excessive number of turnovers have led to Ericsson’s team-worst minus-16 rating.

“Can’t change anything in the past, just look forward,†Ericsson said. “Try to play simple, make good first passes, play with some poise in the D-zone, be quick to pucks. Just small things I got to work on every day.â€

I wasn't able to watch the game but it looks like the Ericsson-Lilja pairing many have hoped to see including myself is off to a bad start.

How was the Ericsson-Lilja pairing overall?

Lilja held his own. Ericsson, as has become regular for him, was atrocious. He continues to be lazy and unwilling to use his size, and he is completely careless. On Colorado's first goal, he failed---again, as is usual---to keep track of the puck and/or the players around him in the crease area; instead of trying to tie up sticks or knock people down, he picked the Avalanche player closest to him and tried to drape his body over the latter. This resulted in him skating away from the puck and from the other Avalanche player in the crease. Said Avalanche player scored into a side of the net that was now uncovered by any defensemen. His languid style of skating and unwillingness to be physical led to him being outworked along the boards for the entire game---as usual---and he give up a 2v1 by falling at the blue line in Colorado's defensive zone.

He's playing awful, and I think much of it is effort-related.

I think Lebda is a better bet for now. He and Lilja have played together a tremendous amount in the past; I figure we'll see them together next game, now that it's clear Ericsson's massive slump wasn't alleviated by the Olympic break.

The fact is, Meech easily deserves a roster spot over Ericsson. Ericsson seems like he isn't even trying out there. I mean, -18? Holy s***...
