puckbags 863 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 When the season started it would've been safe to say that there were 3 to 4 guys who might be thought of as being the MVP of this team this year but with 28 games left barring any serious push from anyone a goalie who was supposed to get 25-30 starts max is the MVP on this team this year. If you dont think Howard is the MVP of this team to this point can you give me your suggestions as to who you think it should be.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is out of their mind.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 Nobody holds that clipboard like Ozzie. Also, Howard wouldn't have had his moment had Osgood intentionally weakened his immune system to be susceptible to whatever bug that ended up ailing him. Howard may be doing everything right on the ice, but don't be fooled. Ozzie is pulling all the strings.

Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 Jimmy Howard and it isn't even remotely close. At the risk of overdramatizing, without the play of Howard this team could be a stone's throw from a lottery position. Don't think it's true? We're only 5 points above 13th place in the West and you can thank our able, young netminder from Syracuse for stealing those 5 points from LA, Nashville and Pittsburgh in the last month alone with 51, 48 and 47 save performances respectively. We owe our playoff chances to Howard right now and I don't see how anybody could dispute it.

Guest micah Report post Posted February 1, 2010 Howard. Followed by - and not closely at all - Lidstrom, who has looked average (average for a top-pairing defenseman, not average for Lidstrom) for the majority of this season and had captained a team that has more often than not looked disinterested instead of motivated and determined. hooon 1,089 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 Hard not to go with Howard. Lidstrom definitely deserves consideration despite his drop in points. There are a number of guys who have performed well above expectations, notably Homer, Bert, Eaves and Miller. Of course there are guys performing well under expectations as well. Opie 308 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 1. Howard 2. Stuart 3. Lids Stuart played unreal and has made almost as many saves as Ozzie (not a shot at Ozzie, Stuart has been there to save Howard and Ozzie many many times). Lids is Lids, and without Howard, well I don't even want to think about it!
Guest mindfly Report post Posted February 1, 2010 Lidstrom, +20 when this team has been outscored in 5on5, says it all.
