Olli Jokinen traded to Rangers...

It seemed just like everyone has said on here that Olli was a cancer in the lockeroom, but yet none of the players or coaches said anything (which they typically do not). I simply think it is his production or lack thereof that got him to New York! I think he had 13 goals in 56 games for Calgary and was a ghost in the playoffs lastyear against Chicago! From what the guys on Roger Sports Net where saying lastnight is the fact Calgary had to make these moves because of cap issues and they needed scoring. The players they got in return I don't think will help the scoring, but just alittle in the cap area!

Thanks Darryl! Hockeytown appreciates the late Christmas Gift! <_<

Horrible deal for the flames, they definitely got the worst of it. The Rangers will continue their mediocrity regardless.

This. Something about the Rangers just screams mediocrity. Year in, and year out. I know I'm not saying anything new, but I was just thinking the other day about the early-00's when everyone pointed at the Red Wings' spending and the Rangers were spending way more with way less to show for it.

Great... another overpaid underachieving cancer to the rags dressing room just what they need... good thing to unload kotaliks ridiculous contract but that's about it.

Jokinen is an idiot.

I'd much rather play in New York than in Calgary. He was only there a year, so I don't know why he sounds so dejected all of a sudden. It's not like he spent his whole career there.

He's probably upset that he's a washed up player who's just been traded for two average NHL'ers. Wakeup call for him.

In my opinion Calgary got absolutely hosed in this deal. That being said, I agree that Jokinen has had a very sub-par season - at least offensively.

To me the biggest thing is that Kotalik still has another 2 full years left on his contract at $3M. Jokinen, Prust, and Higgins all have expiring contracts.

This screams of locker room issues. There has been a lot of talk about Phaneuf and his locker room tendencies but at least the Flames got some value back for him. I'm not a big fan of Stajan or Mayers but I think White has been having a great year and Hagman is great value at $3M/yr as he'll get at least close to 30 goals this year.

EIther way, I almost feel that both the Flames and the Rangers are worse now, after the trade, than before. At least, as the idiot Eklund would say, 'the Dominoes are falling...'

To be fair to Olli, he was the only player that showed up in the playoffs last year.

Matthew Barnaby said it on TSN right after he was traded to Calgary. It was disputed by Aluminium Mike and former teammates. Today on OTR Steve Ludzik said he was hard to coach.

Is it a coincidence that two guys rumored to be cancers were traded in two days?

Because the Rangers don't know how to assemble a taem. They just go after names with no regard to how well they play together, their attitudes, work ethic, etc. If they're a "star" somewhere they'll play for the Rangers.

As the early 00s showed, the Wings spent money and assembled cohesive teams. The Rangers spent more and fell apart every year.

Not deserving of its own thread, but humorous nontheless. This is why I don't read NHL.com.

A weary Jokinen had four of the Rangers' 21 goals, but was on the ice for both Los Angeles goals as the Kings beat New York 2-1 at the Staples Center on Tuesday.

How difficult is it to check your work and realize you used the word "goals" instead of "shots?" NHL.com....you suck! Thank god for TSN.ca.

Fail. Not that it's a surprise with NHL.com.
