Only if all the camera angles have been submitted. Given that this is Detroit, however, I would not expect things to go in our favour...

Or unless you are Pittsburgh's FSN and you decide to withhold the only angle which disproves your team's goal. In that case one camera angle would mysteriously be missing.

Sure, he's a legend.

And he will continue to be, as long he keeps his numbers up like this.

After that, we will all scream murder and try to convince everybody on this board that we should have traded for Luongo or Miller when we had the chance.

Cause that's how this works in Detroit.

There are a few truly unique positions in professional sports.

These are positions that carry with them equal amounts of unbridled glory and merciless scrutiny.

Win, and you're the city's messiah.

Lose, and you're derided as the anti-Christ.

Namely, these positions include the manager of the New York Yankees, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and the goalie for the Detroit Red Wings.

Ask Chris Osgood about this.

After becoming the franchise playoff wins leader, backstopping two Stanley Cup championships, and now sitting five wins away from 400, he's still considered by many Red Wing fans to be the worst goalie to ever win a championship.

Well, that is, until he does, then he's just fine. Strange.

However, for the uninitiated, Detroit is an equal-opportunity goalie basher.

Along with Osgood, Mike Vernon, Dominik Hasek, Curtis Joseph, and Manny Legace have all, at some point, been the bane of a fan's existence.

Oh, and let's not forget Tim Cheveldae, who opted for a much less stressful job as a firefighter upon his retirement.

Such perils accompany the position itself, not necessarily the man who occupies it.

No amount of heroics is going to be enough if Detroit continues to struggle to find the back of the net. Hopefully Franze's return will force teams to play more balanced defense against Detroit and they'll pick up the offense as a result. They have the club for it, now its just about execution and focus.

Kwame_Kilpatrick makes the most epic threads ever.

ZING!!!

:D

He's no sirdrake!

What's to stop Chris Chelios from starting a Poll about Jimmy's perceived soul?

Ward, Hextall, Roy, Dryden, Howard -- What do all these goalies have in common?

It should be what WILL they all have in common in June? They're all rookie goalies that led their teams to the SCF.

ozzie has never been great, good at best but never great, we have won based on our talent and skaters, hasek in 02 and vernon in 97 are exceptions, they had magic years but ozzie has been lucky

I agree, Ozzie certainly hasn't been good these past two playoffs. We could have had Dan Cloutier in goal and still gotten to the finals.

I was unaware that here in the modern age you could have rookies that are already a legend. It's happened before, but I don't believe there's been anything in the hockey world in the last (almost) two decades to allow legitimately legendary players to be just starting in the NHL.
