Berry 2 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Wow, just wow. I saw the game against STL tonight and I feel disappointed. I personally think that if some player will not step up a level, we’ll not do the playoffs this year!! We played against an inferior team and we scored 3 lucky goals, powerplay 0 of 4, 42 shots on goal but few of them dangerous… We were outplayed, especially in the 2nd period, where we had to be 100% Need to improve: Cleary: often ineffective, need to create more Bertuzzi: Until the end of January he provided many points, but now his production is decreased Zetterberg, Pasha: they started scoring goals, that’s good, but in many shifts they aren’t as good as they could and should be. Rafalsky: his point production is too low, he need to improve! Defensively he is still a good player (6 millions/year is actually too much) Ericcson, Lebda: disappointing season, they should be waived to make room for Lilja. The 4th line (Maltby and May): all should be sent down in the minors!!! Where is the grit, where are the hits?? Abdelkader should be called back!! Comment please!!! In think that Ericcson and Lilja play the same style of hockey... Ericcson has struggled all season long!! Moreover the Red Wings have too many struggling defencemen!!! Trade Ericcson and Lebda!!! Anybody can say trade player so-and-so.

Travis 576 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) It goes without saying that this team desperately needs the Olympic Break. I hate to agree with the idiots (on Versus) from last night, but the return of their injured players alone isn't going to right this ship. Everyone is so worn down from having to play that much harder through all the injuries that the best thing we could have is a 2-week break. Even if a number of guys are going to be playing in the Olympics. Call me hopelessly optimistic, but I honestly think we have a solid chance to string together some big wins after the break. ilmickeyli 40 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 It's just surreal.. it feels like it never happend before... what a EPIC FAIL SEASON... everything went terrible. I know.. And yeah it stings and yeah I feel numb (ala game 7 loss), but we'll all get over it.. Something is cancerous in that locker room, and I hate to say it, but I think it is in the coaching staff. Babs is a helluva coach don't get me wrong but the players are not responding or listening.

Stiffy 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) I'm frustrated, but don't see this as being over yet. Put me somewhere in the middle between the optimists and pessimists. We have a team that is for the most part a team that made it to the SCF two years in a row. Aside from injuries, there is a problem. I think coaching is a big factor. How about just leadership in general. We have seen years of outstanding leadership with coaches like Bowman and Captains like Yzerman. Either one is a super high bar yes, but I think we are underperforming in both areas of leadership now. Instead of everyone telling everyone else they are a lousy fan or all this, is anyone interested in talking about what the Wings could do to turn things around? I tend to believe that equating ones performance (player or coach) with job security has a way of really motivating a team. RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 way to go einstein. hahaha As a physicist, I am proud. I don't think it is a bad thing if they don't make it into the playoffs. After two long seasons and this season riddled with injuries, I feel they need a break. Now, I would LOVE to see them make it and win it all, but if they don't I won't cry. Just because this season has been out of character for the Wings doesn't mean next year we can't come back and kick some major ass like we are used to. DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 This team lacks focus, drive and confidence. I have already accepted the fact of missing the playoffs. Maybe a long summer is what they need to re-energize.
Lidstrom for life 20 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Well Calgary got 0 points last night so we actually moved up a little in the playoff race. Thats the nice thing about being in 9th place, everyone around you sucks too which makes it much easier to hang around.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 10, 2010 You guys really just need to accept the fact that this team is not making the playoffs. Hahahaha.... typical d-bag defensive pessimism. Bravo! If the team doesn't make the playoffs, you can act like you were all smart and full of foresight on an internet forum, and that you gave up hope early means that you won't be as disappointed as if you'd held onto it like a real fan does. If the team does make the playoffs, you can act like "oh, I'm so pleasantly surprised! I shouldn't have doubted the team! " I wish I had a middle finger emoticon here.
