Not sure what you're referring to because Canada and the US both gave up goals to Switzerland, and each other, in the round robin. But frankly, Canada hasn't exactly looked that good so far. Tonight's the night! Canada-Russia is gonna be EPIC!

The US gave up 1 goal in 2 games against the Swiss, and Canada gave up 2 in 1 game against the Swiss. The US also won the head to head against Canada.

Ah. Haha, yeah. I wonder if that's at all significant.. A moot point, since Russia will beat Canada tonight ;)

Ah, I didn't know you were talking just IIHF rules. I'm gonna see if I can look it up.

Nothing on our specific scenario yet, but there is this:

If a player illegally enters the game from his own player’s bench or from the

penalty bench by his own error or the error of the Penalty Bench Attendant,

any goal scored by his own team shall be disallowed, while he is illegally on

the ice, but all penalties imposed to both teams shall be served.

I'm pretty sure I just read the whole rulebook, and can't find anything about that specific scenario.

Uh-oh?

Uh-oh; as in, I was trying to find the thread from last night's Canada - Germany game to add a story that I heard during the game and...

So, I'll put add it here.

When the World Championships were held in 2008 in Halifax, Uwe Krupp was Coach of Team Germany. They weren't doing that well and a group of fans went up to him and told basically told him: Look, we've paid a lot of money to travel to Canada to watch our team compete and they're playing like garbage. What do you going to do about it?

Krupp said: Well, if you don't like they way I'm coaching, there's two flights leaving daily from here back to Germany!

IMO the reason they let NHL'ers play is because it took a miracle to beat the Russians(Red Army team). Those guys were army guys like I'm an NHL guy.

Nice win boys. Glad Hiller is in our rear-view mirror.

Elvis was an Army guy.

I appreciate you looking though.

Cheers

It was oddly fun, and I learned that it was the right call waiting to blow the whistle when that puck was on the back of the net, too. The rule says the ref has to wait 3 seconds before he blows it dead, even if no one's trying to get it off.

Another thing I learned from the Canada Germany game, if you didn't watch it.

Apparently, they can call down to investigate a missed goal, even if no on ice officials saw it. However, if there has been a faceoff, the goal will not be counted.

I dont know who to root for. I have absolutely nothing against Canada, again, but I just cant seem to bring myself to root for them in these Olympics. And Russia is Russia. I like their players, but it was always fun to root against the Russians.

Either way, winner to the gold medal. Spare me the "anything can happen" speech. I know. We all know.
