Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 26, 2010 Your HDTV is much much much more HD than mine, as I am not seeing that. I see a fair bit of red ( maybe 25% of the audience ), but all them being Canadian hockey jerseys... no. All told though, its a really silly argument. Did you listen to the commentators? They are at the game, they have eyes and they can see all of the Team Canada jerseys. That is why they said it. I guess I would say my argument is silly too if I was completely wrong. Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 You're not great at picking up people's sarcasm, are you? Spending a ton of time in enemy territory and often as devils advocate, sometimes you get confused. That said, I wouldnt say that was sarcasm.

Plus, I doubt you are listening to the same coverage as me.

Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 26, 2010 I am saying the argument itself is silly ( regardless to which side of it you are on ). Plus, I doubt you are listening to the same coverage as me. The argument that there were many Team Canada fans at the Finland/US game in Canada is silly? OK. I was watching the game on NBC when they mentioned the fact that there were many Team Canada fans at the game. What coverage are you watching that told you different? Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 26, 2010 That doesnt mean they were Canadians.... Hockey games are the premium ticket item in the Olympics, maybe second behind figureskating, if... There are bound to be a lot of internationals in attendance. Also, don't use the red as an indicator, apparently HBC Olympic clothing is flying off the shelf, and Oprah apparently is partly responsible. That the games are being held in Canada means that your argument is facing an uphill battle here.

I was watching the game on NBC when they mentioned the fact that there were many Team Canada fans at the game. What coverage are you watching that told you different? CTV, which mentioned nothing. And, I am not arguing that the crowd wasn't against the USA or werent pro Canada, they were, I am saying that its an International Audience, so you can't just say Canadians. And this is why the argument is silly, its down to semantics.

Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 That the games are being held in Canada means that your argument is facing an uphill battle here. But its the Olympics were are talking about here, and one of the most high profile games in the Olympics. Don't get me wrong, Canadians are by far the most populous members of the audience, but millions of people from around the world are at the games and this is a big ticket event. So calling the audience Canadians, is just wrong.

And this is why the argument is silly, its down to semantics. No one has said anything about the crowd being against anyone. Stop trying to interject an argument that hasn't even been made. The argument is silly because you have lost it. The games are in Canada, many in the crowd are wearing Team Canada jerseys and NBC mentioned how many Team Canada fans were in attendance. Yeah, you're right. Silly argument. I guess all those Team Canada fans from Finland, Sweden, and Russia found their way into today's game. Edited February 26, 2010 by Howard He Do It?! THe source of this mind numbingly stupid thread of conversation: Are the Canadian fans mock chanting Thomas? Again, stop calling them Canadian fans!!! Its a pretty international crowd. Once again, I am saying you can't call the audience at an event like the Olympics Canadians, they aren't. But fine, f*** it, I cede this stupid argument, it just isn't worth one ounce more effort to continue. Here, The audience was 100% Canadian and every single person in it was wearing a Team Canada jersey. Will that put it to rest?
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 Because the 28th is the last day of the Olympics. The closing ceremonies will be taking place during primetime. Why can't the Olympics end with the U.S. beating down Canada? Closing ceremonies are boring anyway. The opening ceremony is where all the ratings are at. I'm just saying that more people are at home Sunday evenings than they are Sunday mornings. Yet another fail by NBC. Just have the closing ceremony be at 10:30 at night, like all those late night hockey games we had to watch. Or better yet, show a taping of the closing ceremonies. Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 Closing ceremonies are boring anyway. The opening ceremony is where all the ratings are at. Watching the closing ceremonys has to rank up there with the most epically boring things you can watch on TV, does anyone actually do it?

I doubt NBC has much influence on the Olympic schedule... NHL yes, Olympics I find hard to believe, especially concerning the hockey schedule.... NBC would have put the American game on tonight if that was the case. Edited February 26, 2010 by T-Ruff

Serapth 3 Report post Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Since we have a few hours of downtime between games, did anyone just watch the British bobsledding crash? My god, the helmet thrower looks like a psychopath! Actually, if anyone pissed me off during this Olympics, its been the British... there press was attacking Canada daily, making sensationalist comments like "Own the podium kills luger" and other bulls***, even blaming Canada for the weather. I just dont get the British press, are they premptively attacking because they know they are going to f*** the Summer Olympics up. But fine, f*** it, I cede this stupid argument, it just isn't worth one ounce more effort to continue. Here, The audience was 100% Canadian and every single person in it was wearing a Team Canada jersey. Will that put it to rest? Only one person said the crowd was full of Canadian fans and they didn't even say that, just that the crowd was Canadian. Other posters said the crowd was about 70% Team Canada fans. No one is claiming the crowd was 100% Canadian, that's just stupid, but if you want to cede that then fine. You are free to cede a point that no one made. You only found the conversation stupid when no one backed you up and you got called out. It doesn't matter how international the Olympics are. The Olympics are in Canada so they are naturally going to have a larger presence in the crowd. international as in 80% Canadian 12% American and 8% other. Very international if you ask me.
