HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Plans to be further evaluated tomorrow Phew! As much as he frustrates us sometimes with his play... he is a big part of this team. Get well Bert! http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/03/red_wings_todd_bertuzzi_has_ch.html

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Good stuff! I have to admit it was pretty obvious once he left. I think the team needs him a lot more then some people think.... Edited March 7, 2010 by ShanahanMan
Carman 387 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Good news. Especially when it comes to Bertuzzi's injury luck. Rest him up for a few games and get him 100% for the final stretch.
newfy 695 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Bert was having a hell of a game today too, it sucks that he's out. He had a few good backchecks and set up Flip for an easy goal. Hopefully its just a minor charlie horse, you never know with a charlie it could be a while til he's back or it could be next game.

This is the final stretch. If he misses a few weeks, that could be serious for us. We don't need him back in time for golfing in April.

Well, I originally thought it was a knee injury. So I'll this over something else. Obviously it's sort of a lesser of two evils situation.

jeff48109 474 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 I'm not entirely aware with the salary cap rules when it comes to calling up guys from the minors, but can we not call Abdelkader up for a game or 2? how does that work (or not work)?
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Dont fret GMR, we have Meech Dude, you live in Calgary. Can't you help the Wings out somehow? Maybe put some anthrax in Kiprusoff's jockstrap? Just a suggestion.

I'm not very smart on the cap but I dont think the wings can do that. Bert's cap is still a hit unless he is on LTIR and I dont think we have the room to call up Abs as long as Berts number si still a hit. Maybe someone that knows more about teh cap should chime in though.

Maybe someone that knows more about teh cap should chime in though. The Wings would still be on the hook for Bert's cap hit if he's on LTIR, it just allows the team to exceed the cap by up to that amount. And, according to CapGeek anyway, the Wings are pretty much exactly at the cap (actually over it except for the LTIR exemption), so any callup would have to be accompanied by placing someone on LTIR or waiving them. I think.
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Call me a skeptic, but you don't look as hurt as Franzen did with just a Charley Horse. As long as he doesn't bend his knee for the next 24 hours and gets some nice massages from some Swedish babes he should be able to go for the next game, unless there is more to it than just a Charley Horse which i really suspect there is... I agree, might as well be something babcock says after a game like he can do some times, it looked more like twisted knee and stuff, charley horse u usually get from a knee-on-tigh hit, going into the bords, or a heavy shot that doesnt hit protective hockeypants
