Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) its Dallas feed Thanks. Yeah, that's a pretty good elbow there. Franzen on FSN now. He has a concussion. He didn't say that but a reporter said something about a concussion and Franzen answered her question as if it was a fact that he had one. Edited October 15, 2010 by Howard He Do It?! stuck in socal 56 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I have not been able to watch the last 2 games, but they do not sound pretty. From what I have seen the first two games (and last season really) Z seems to have really lost a step.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Unless he got a concussion, from the clip it looks like Franzen mostly had some chiclets knocked out.
stuck in socal 56 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Which is upsetting because we signed Z to a monster contract and he was supposed to wear the C soon.

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Only thing I'm really concerned about is defense and it has more to do with the fact that the same crap creeps up year after year and I don't think it has much at all to do with our players and perhaps more to do with the coaching. With as much skill as we have on D, they should be a lot better than they are. I wonder how many years it will take before they bring in someone new if only for the sake of trying something. Maybe it's not McCrimmon, but things aren't working under him and he's a lot easier to swap out than any of the guys.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 And to think I was jealous of him. Now I'm gonna send him a sympathy card. ya'll should have taken up a collection and sent me. They've never lost vs. the Stars when I am in the arena. And they haven't won there since the last time I attended a Wings-Stars game in Dallas, Jan 5, 2008 *Dom got a shut out. Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Unless he got a concussion, from the clip it looks like Franzen mostly had some chiclets knocked out. I think he does. A reporter asked him something along the lines of "Is it scary to you because there is no time line for a return from a concussion?" and Franzen went on to answer her question as if he did have a concussion. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I remember Lindros getting a concussion once, even though he didn't take a blow to the head. Guys with a history of concussions are incredibly prone to getting them again, even for plays where it doesn't look like his brain got scrambled. On the bright side, I'm fully confident that Hudler can step into Franzen's role, and make us all forget about his absence.
Outsider 42 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I wonder what happened? Can they have gone that far downhill, that quickly? They looked fantastic in the first two games of the Season. Some argued, as good as the '07-'08 Team that Won the Cup. They've gone 0-1-1, in spectacularly BAD fashion, looking disinterested, bored, and unwilling to skate, since then. Since Babcock's contract extension was announced... 1 stuck in socal reacted to this

Since Babcock's contract extension was announced... I agree, the first two games, I thought I saw a team that resembled that 07 - 08 team. Especially against the Ducks (granted it was the Ducks), I saw a team with a lot of depth, solid goaltending, and a sound defense. (plus effective special teams). While I have not been lucky enough to watch these last two games , this team is sounding lazy and just disinterested.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Guys with a history of concussions are incredibly prone to getting them again, even for plays where it doesn't look like his brain got scrambled. This is only true when one sustains a major concussion.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Play well for two games, play poorly for two games, i.e. a normal result during the long hockey season.

I don't think this has anything to do with Babcock. At all.
LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Which is upsetting because we signed Z to a monster contract and he was supposed to wear the C soon. ...maybe he is waiting for the "C" before he produces and plays to his contracts worth? With the amount of cash he is making he should be consistantly scoring 100 points AND staying HEALTHY.
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 man there is a lot of freaking out, it seriously mirrors the last few years. We need to get tougher, we need to play interested, Franzen needs to stop being injured, Z needs to step up, Flip/Hudles also. Glad the season has started! Yak19 303 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 Franzen himself said it may be a concussion, Babcock disagreed lol. After Franzen also said he feels ok, lets hope for the best. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=337419
ACallToArms 270 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 I'm not worried. If there's one thing that's been consistent about the Wings over the years is that they have a tendency to be inconsistent. They have spectacular wins, and embarrassing loses like this game. At the end of the season, however, they're always in the playoffs. At that point, what happened in the regular season is pointless. I wouldn't worry about this team.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) This is only true when one sustains a major concussion. link? Because in the studies they've done, mostly involving football players, 3 is the magic number. 3 previous concussions makes a player 3 times as likely to have another concussion. and "major" concussion is not really a grading system for concussions.
