Are the Sharks as strong as last year? I don't think so. They're also dealing with some injuries.

Wings have been flying lately. Hopefully they come out to play for this one.

Good game: Wings win 4-2

Bad game: Wings lose 5-2

They'll keep things going and get a win tonight. I hate these mid-week late night games, but that's what coffee is for.

late night? 10.30 sounds very early to me, the game has ended before 1 am for you guys...luckyyyyyyy

These mid week late night games are killing me too. Probably miss this one =(. In the process of quitting caffeine as I was horribly addicted and withdrawal is bad enough when I am getting sleep lol. LGW!

Yay! Night game, west coast trips rock! I get to see the entire game, for a change. They start too early for me, with job and all, I usually miss the first period, if not more. I am a night-owl (and chronically sleep-deprived), so the late game is fine with me.

redhot, have a blast... that's one fun arena, the Tank!

Wings win. Jimmy will be a beast tonight.

I'd love to see us control a game, with out a doubt of whose going to win. Luckily, we don't have to with Jimmeh in net. 4-3, Z, Bert, Cleary, and Mr. Norris with the goals.

Go Wings!

Like they haven't done that a handful of games already this season. Not only can a team not win 'em all, you can't expect to dominate *on the scoreboard and off* half as many with the talent at this level of the game.

If they play Red Wings hockey, then there's always a good chance of victory.

I completely agree. That's not what I'm talking about though.

The point is that some people here need to have their cake and eat it too. The fact of the matter is that while the Wings are likely the best team in the NHL this year, it's not as if they're going to run over every opponent every single night by a score of 6-0. They're going to win more games than likely any other team in the NHL, 1/4 of those at most being blowouts (3+ goal wins), while the rest are going to be 1 or 2 goal victories. That's my point.

They can if they want to but even if they make all these million's of dollar's to entertain us and win games they still let up as often as possible, it seems as if it's human nature no matter how wealthy you are..."try to do enough to win the game, but not too much, getting exhausted playing a full 60 and dominate wears you down"

Maybe it's the best approach for a veteran team who knows it's the playoffs that matters, remains to be seen.

That could be one of your most clueless responses I've ever read. I don't care how talented a team is, if they're in the NHL....there's talent. Some obviously greater than others, but teams do have bad nights and make mistakes, players get bad bounces, take ill-afforded penalties, get poor matchup's at the wrong time, etc., etc., etc.

There's a million reasons a team who's clearly superior to their opponent *at the NHL level* would lose. Trivializing it by stating its simply "trying to do enough to win the game, but not too much" is absolutely ridiculous. It's one of the last reasons a team as talented as the Wings won't blow out their opponent night-in and night-out, which is again....the whole point of my initial post.

That is true. As long as victory is earned, I don't care if the score is 6-0 or 2-1, two points is two points.

Seriously, almost every one of your posts are negative. I'm still convinced you're a troll disguising your trolling as legitimate posts. Do you seriously think the wings, or any other NHL team, go out onto the ice thinking "well, I got all this money in the bank, I'm feeling kind of lazy tonight so I'm going to let this one slide." Every game counts, this was driven home last year when the wings were fighting for a playoff spot. Freak accidents happen. That injury that Modano suffered could have easily happened to any of our top guys. Games are a lot harder to win when your top guys are out, look at last year. Every game counts.

Its human nature that players will have off nights. Bad bounces happen. But to think that a team goes onto the ice with the intention of half-assing it is asinine.
