Guest Crymson Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Cleary is on pace for nearly 40 goals. Had a few gift wrapped odd-angle goals thanks to Backstrom, but even without those, it's been a solid game by the Wings. Although, it feels like this game is taking forever. Lots of whistles tonight, between penalties, hand passes and high sticks, etc. Well, we got the opposite against the Blues.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 I am still holding out a bit of hope that Jan Mursak will be just that... Helm with hands. 2 assists for Jan the Man tonight. Tatar 2 points (G+A), ditto iFlip.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Boarding is either a minor or major. If the ref deems it a major AND there is an injury, a Game Misconduct is automatically given. Helm wasn't injured, he was just cut. Thank you sir. You would think watching hockey, playing hockey, and basically being a viewer or player for over 4000 games would bring me that knowledge. There is always something new to learn. I will repeat though, it seems wrong that the only difference in the call is whether or not Helm goes out on a stretcher... Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 Guys, let's keep the discussion in this thread limited to the Wings/Wild game. Feel free to create a thread for the WJC game that's on, if you want to discuss that game. Thanks! Well whoever wanted to know how Pulkkinen (sp) was doing for Finland, the USA just scored with him in the box Please see above.

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 2 assists for Jan the Man tonight. Tatar 2 points (G+A), ditto iFlip. I love it~! How long till iFlip gets a call up? I still feel he might be a Pavel sub with his brother on the second line. Sedin-ish... in my dreams. I am starting to worry if we have room for all the talent in the pipe! haha. Good problems to have, wonder if we can translate that into another dynasty... Or will the NHL require a young superstar to be given the chance... Anyone want five quality players for a first overall pick? Jk haha.

Should that also be a double minor? OR what if you hook someone and he hits something and busts his face open, should that be a double minor? If you start giving out double minors for blood, then all the current penalties should be re-worked. The boarding on Helm should have resulted in a major penalty. Nothing more. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 And in other NHL news, Marty Brodeur allows three goals on 14 shots. Against Toronto. I'm sorry, but Marty's done. The Devils as a team are awful, but Marty's more responsible than the rest of them. He's been atrocious this season. Before tonight's game, he's got a 3.04 GAA and a .887 SV% in 24 games. And dammit, Bert! It's like he's the Salei of forwards...

If you start giving out double minors for blood, then all the current penalties should be re-worked. The boarding on Helm should have resulted in a major penalty. Nothing more. \ The difference is that boarding is always considered the most dangerous and violent crime in hockey resulting from normal play. Knocking a person head first into the boards is a paralization risk. I am not saying really that the blood is the defining charecteristic. Although the league uses that for high sticking so there is precident for that. I am however saying that I am not one who believes in any sport the penatly should be based upon how baddly you injure the person. You could say Helm was just lucky to avoid serious injury. The league makes these calls as the head shots are being cut down on with extra attention. I just would perfer that anyone who does something stupid like cross checks someone into the boards be dealt with as such. I was surprised that drawing blood by doing that wasn't a additional time because the violence of cross checking is simular to slashing or high sticking when drawing blood. Some one falling down from a trip is not. I only wondered if there was a reason, such as if it was just discretionary. Apparently that is how the rules are, and I thank you again for putting that up.
