Wingscup 22 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Just thought that I'd share a bit from Swedish newspaper Expressen. The translation was made by Google, and was adjusted a bit by me. I saved first line though; sounds like the first line in a bad thriller. One more thing; Lids is sometime called "Lidas" in swedish. Google translate this to "suffered", wich actually is quite right... it was funny though, to read that translation. Phoenix was looking for Lidstrom in the night Bang on him. That seemed to be Phoenix's motto towards Nicklas Lidstrom in tonight's fourth round. First run at Lidstrom was recorded at 13:45 by Taylor Pyatt . Phoenix big power forward made a hard hit from the wrong side when Lidstrom was struggling with another opponent to reach the puck behind his own goal. Detroit's Swedish captain fell to the ice, but was quickly up again. The hit led to no penalty. Shane Doan was punished, however, for a cross checking in the back after the whistle, when the game clock was at 17:29 of the first period. -"Sure they tried to hit Lids a little extra. Their opponents have the world's best defender in the lineup, so it is understandable that they try to play physical against him, when the opportunity arises, but it does not often happened to Lids, "said Nicklas Kronwall when we talk to him after the game. x How about Doan crosscheking in the back? - I do not know what the idea is of such a thing, it feels so damn unnecessary. There is no place for that kind of things, and I'm glad that the judges took out Doan for it.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Doan certainly wouldn't do that to someone who would turn around and clock him in the face. On the other hand, he's already getting embarrassed by a far superior team, which is nothing new given his career in "viable hockey market land" in Gary Bettman's wet dreams. hooon 1,089 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Gotta admit, targeting Lidstrom is nothing new in the playoffs (Sharp's spear a couple years ago), but to me it is just so cowardly and gutless. I can understand going after a guy like Mule or Bert, Abby, etc. Talented physical guys. Instead they target our aging captain and respected veteran (when his back is turned), only because they know he is too smart and controlled to fight back. The Yotes are just spot picking and its pathetic.

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Bertuzzi do your thing and drop the mitts and fight that punk Doan Were you watching the same game? Both Abs AND Bert clear as day challenged him after his cowardly runs at Lids, and he just ignored them and let the refs break it up... both Abs and Bert were smart about it, they got in there quick each time and you don't need to be a lip reading expert to make out what they were saying to him, but they were not going to hurt the team by doing EXACTLY what Doan wanted them to do - take a stupid retalitory penalty. I thought last night was a perfect Wings team on all fronts...

Turris and Yandle are good, maybe Hanzal a bit, but other than that....take a hike and draft some players. i hate the coyotes.
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Jovo has been absolutely exposed by Helm out there. It has been David vs. Goliath out there in size but he is getting pwned out there plain and simple. He is in his head. The Salei goal was beautiful work by Helmer all the way through. Oh, man, that s*** gets me heated. Jovo is acting like such a little *****, hiding behind that mask, and taking shots at people knowing there is nothing they can do back because he is wearing that s***, its sickening. Yo Jovo, if you want to mix it up, thats fine, but lose the mask first or else you are just a ***** little *****!!!

Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Today I was listening to Terry Foster and Mike Valinte and they both want someone to take out Doan and Jovo Cop! Terry mentioned time and time again that someone on the Wings roster needs to step up and take these two out. Part of me wants this to happen, but I just know that if someone in the Red and White do something like that the NHL will come down so severe on the Wings that it won't be funny! I mean Homer can't even get nut hair in the crease without taking a penalty, just imagine if Big Bert destroyed Doan! Not to mention Shane Doan will NOT fight anyway, he is an skilled Sean Avery! Foster is stating that driving Doan to the ice and showing that hitting Lidstrom is not going to be excepted by our next round opponent is the most important thing here, and I have to agree but my question to everyone here is at what time or when do you take actions into your own hands???? I can just see SanJose/Nashville/Vancouver licking their chops at a chance to do what the Coyotes have done!

HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 Today I was listening to Terry Foster and Mike Valinte Credibility was unfortunately lost on this post right here. They just know what some knowledgeable hockey person told them to say or the cue card they were reading from. They talk about hockey during the playoffs and then speak of NBA or the football the rest of the year. It's hard to accept their stance on hockey often. Granted, I agree, just had to get that out there about their program

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 I've wanted someone to challenge that idiot for the last 2 years now. He's hardly a Derek Boogaard, so I don't see what we have to fear. For the posters here who don't like violence, it would at least take Doan off the ice for 5 minutes. I was hoping one of Abby, Bert, Eaves, or especially Ericsson would just go for it. I'd love to see him sitting in the box and have one of our grinders sitting as well. Doan is too much of a ***** to go for it, though.
