Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Something for a change from trade talks.... TSN Story Forsberg's number (21) will join those of Patrick Roy(33), Joe Sakic(19) and Ray Bourque (77) in the rafters at Pepsi Center. They will be holding the ceremony prior to the season home opener.
Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Still amazes me they retired Bourque's number. But this was well deserved. Good for him.

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Now that Kariya is retired they can finally put his number on the rafters too.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 They're going to retire Forsberg's number. They retired Roy and Bourque. Do you think they'll ever retire Stastny's?
Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Ehh I don't know if I would agree with this or not. I mean don't get me wrong Forsberg was an INCREDIBLE player in my opinion, but I think teams need to stop retiring players numbers so loosely. I mean all those injuries and years off and attempts at comebacks, I don't think he falls into the "retired number category". Now if he was healthy and continued playing throughout the years you bet I would say #21 needs to be hanging up in the rafters. Don't even get me started on the Bourque thing. He played 1 year in an Av's jersey. Boston should be the only place his number is hanging. Look how many years Chelios helped the wings out you don't see his number up hanging... I concur Borque's numbers should be hung from the rafters in Boston not Colorado that's just dumb. I mean Brett Hull's Number was hung from St. Louis' rafters not Dallas' nor Detroit's. Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 And in typical Forsberg style, as he walks through the line of players tapping their sticks he'll pretend to get clipped by one and take a huge dive 3 F2B&G, mjlegend and winger30 reacted to this
ami 273 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) i was wondering, what they going to do when he attempts a come back? will they un-retire it or floppa wears another number. Edited June 30, 2011 by ami

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 It will be hung from the rafters with a bungy cord. Jersey goes up. Jersey changes its mind. Jersey comes down... Just think... if he hadn't given Igor that extra shove, and if Igor had not objected... 3 ami, Hockeymom1960 and McAwesome reacted to this
IllinoisRedWingsFan 49 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Not a fan of this move at all. I do understand why Roy's and Sakic's number were retired but Borque (I do agree Boston was smart to retire his) and Forsburg come on..
