"Today @ 8:48 AM ET
Bergevin and Holland have talk alot at GM'S meeting.
Markov, Diaz, Weber, Abdelkader and Filppula have been discussed."
I know it is not even a rumor, but to me this sounds like a typical Holland move, that's what scares me. Plus, there's no secret that Detroit has coveted Markov. Maybe a potential two for one swap? I notice Montreal seem to have decent depth at defense. I certainly hope this is nothing though. I don't think this deal would help Detroit at all.

Lol, they were probably just talking at the meeting because they knew each other when Bergevin played for the Wings in 95/96....

Weber would be a nice pick up. Young RH shooting Dman. 5-11/200, 24 IIRC. Good with the pick, Swiss-friend for Brunner. The rest, no thanks. Fil for weber and their 1st would be nice!

I would love to see Prust in Detroit but it will not happen...

Lol the good Markov would be nice. I remember a few years ago. I hated the brother Markov about equal with lilja lebda and franzen.
The constantly-injured Markov would be awful. And for the record, Danny and Andrei Markov are not related. Markov is a common last name in Russia.
That said, this is an Eklund rumor and thus almost certainly empty.

It absolutely doesn't have "Holland logic" to it. He would be trading young players for an aging, constantly-injured, offensive defenseman (Markov), a depth defenseman (Weber) such as we have enough of already, and a guy who has been out for the past month with a concussion (Diaz).

That's funny, because it is not like Holland has ever brought in veteran defensemen before (Lilja, Rafalski, Huskins, Olausson, D. Markov etc.) And certainly not defensemen from common countries (Russia, Sweden). Both Diaz and Weber are Swiss like Brunner. And Diaz put up 13 points in 19 games. Holland doesn't like undersized offensive minded defensemen. They are 27 and 24 yrs old respectively. As for injuries, Holland took a shot on Coliacovo didn't he? There is more but why bother? It absolutely doesn't have "Holland logic" to it. He would be trading young players for an aging, constantly-injured, offensive defenseman (Markov), a depth defenseman (Weber) such as we have enough of already, and a guy who has been out for the past month with a concussion (Diaz).
Anyway, I wouldn't expect that talks would involve all players mentioned, but perhaps something like Diaz and Markov for Filppula, if Holland decided not to negotiate a new contract before end of season. I'm not going to waste more time on this, as it is no more than a random comment, but there is definitely some Holland logic to it IMO.

I think you're selling Markov incredibly short. The guy is elite when healthy and is currently a Norris candidate. Throw in 2 right-handed defensemen both Swiss (entices Brunner to stay put) and it's a deal. Personaly I don't see the Habs doing this they'd need more than a UFA and a worthless plug.
Edit: Nevermind Justin "The Golden Gator" Abdelkader is untouchable after tonight.
3 goals after the 2nd.

What really? He played solid for us and landed some bone-crushing hits. I wish he never left.

I doubt that the Habs would trade him, especally when they are in the playoffs for once.
