Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 Do they ever sign a player for less than $3mil? They have 8 roster players all the time and ELC's for the rest.

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 $60 million for 19 players occupied for next year and $48 million already occupied by 8 players the season after next. blah blah blah. We all said the same thing about Chicago after they won the cup in 2010 and their roster imploded. What did they do? They won the cup again 3 years later. 1 esteef reacted to this
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 $60 million for 19 players occupied for next year and $48 million already occupied by 8 players the season after next. Depth is like, so overrated. blah blah blah. We all said the same thing about Chicago after they won the cup in 2010 and their roster imploded. What did they do? They won the cup again 3 years later. Chicago had more depth, more quality prospects and they didn't trade their prospects for failed experiments. Saad, Shaw, Bickell and Crawford may have helped. MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 They signed their cleary Yes, but their "Cleary" actually finds a way to get the job done... (Of course it helps when you see ice time with either Malkin or He Who Shall Not Be Named )

xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 I'm actually surprised he signed for so little. I was thinking he'd get $4.5 to $5 mil a year on the open market. He scored 20 goals in 48 games this year. Granted that was with Crosby, but that little fact didn't stop Letang from getting a huge pay raise. Good for them. They won the cup again 3 years later. Difference is the penguin team has imploded every year in the playoffs since winning in 09 and they have no valuable leadership. Combine that with trading away your already thin farm team every year and you are heading for failure every year
LeftWinger 5,130 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 Ahhhhh! Now it is proven, there is a player out there with a better cap hit than Franzen, not on an EL contract that WILL outscore Franzen this year... I am sure it was a bit of a hometown discount, but Dupuis would have been nice! At $3.75M he is a steal! Yet another strike against Franzen and his serious contract... TheOwl 77 Report post Posted July 4, 2013 They signed their cleary You are right, nearly identical weight and height, same age, both from eastern Canada, both shoot left, play on the wing, both have played for 4 different NHL teams in their careers, they both average 35-40 points a season. frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted July 4, 2013 i keep thinking they dont have enough money to sign these guys and they keep doing it. next one up, brooks orpik will get an extension, just wait.. They still have two buyout options, so they are going to lock up their core + supplement players and fill the rest with cheap ELC ones I guess.
