You know, if they were selling the ice when they won a couple of years ago, I'd kinda understand it, what with breaking the Cup drought.  If they were selling ice that they actually won the Cup on, I'd kinda sorta understand that.  This is nothing other than end-of-season ice.

Whoa.  This is so true.

No worries, though.  That little factoid won't register in their fans' heads.

Until you brought it up, it didn't even register in mine.

Although you have a point about the 2010 cup- water breaking a drought is rather poetic, isn't it?

I assume the dignity of anyone who bids also goes to charity as well right?

hahaha well, the title doesn't tell the whole story.... tho i kind of wish it were just a bag of stitches :P

Don’t worry, potential bidders: It’s not just a bag of used wound dressings. The stitches will be professionally framed with an autographed photo of Shaw, and the auction winner gets some other items in the lot as well.

I love that we are calling water melted-ice. I suppose it sounds a bit more marketable, like calling sh*t digested food :)

Totally hadn't occurred to me that this isn't ice that the cup was won on. Now I think that it's stupid.

It's official!  $99.

Can't wait to read the "Phoenix: I still think it's a hockey market" chapter of Gary Bettman's autobiography. I'm guessing it's going to be chapter 11.

Disappointed.  They don't offer a snuggie and the world's smallest juicer, which is yours to keep if you send it back in 30 days.

The only part of this which legitimizes it is:

Colorado did the same thing back in the 90's except their's was in a plastic puck and came with a display
People can say what they want but if the Wings did this they would sell a bunch. If they did this with the winter classic ice I'd buy 1

Agreed, how does it hurt to sign this thing and maybe create a little bit more money for charities? $ 99 is not a lot but honestly I am not surprised I would even have paid for something like that, if it were from the DetroitRedWings rather spent the $ 99 without public knowledge but whatever...it's the Blackhawks so I am not surprised.

So, if you consume this "melted ice," do you then become part of NHL history (until you pee, sweat, breathe)? The implications are staggering.

if you drink it, you get all of the blackhawks' powers while the liquid remains in your body!

danny cleary has reportedly already ordered the 3 vial limit under many different names (looking for a source now)
