Gaborik?

Heh, sorry. I'd thought I might've said it already, but I couldn't remember.

Many reasons. Mainly, we're a middling team in transition that's going to need and expect a great deal more from him than what the Kings (would) need and expect from him. They have Kopitar, Carter, Richards, Brown, Williams, and currently Gaborik. They have Doughty and Quick. They're big and mean and fast and young and pretty much awesome. They won the Cup a couple years ago and bowed out in the Conference Finals last season. They're built for playoff success. They're built to win the Cup. They're not Tortorella's Rangers, a team Gaborik never really clicked with (largely because he was counted on to be one of their very best players every night and he's just not that kind of guy). They don't need him to be a hero. We would need him to be a hero. That's a recipe for issues.

To be fair no one really does well in torts system

I just added it to the conversation in a previous post, were all friends here.

It wasn't a suggestion, just my opinion which i was clear to state

Why do you think dats is always paired with players such as abby/bertuzzi/holmstrom? He doesn't like playing with skilled players; he likes big bodies that work hard and take away space along the boards... Vanek ?

All Vanek brings to the table is his shot, which weve seen with Franzen isn't enough

It's hard for me to comment negatively on this because I don't want Vanek and agree with you in spirit...but

Datsyuk's two best years were both played with Holmstrom PLUS a highly skilled winger (Zetterberg in 2008 and Hossa in 2009). I know you're going to say, "Zetterberg plays like a power forward" or "Hossa's a big body"; and you may actually believe that but they're not power forwards. Van Riemsdyk, Pacioretty, Carter. Those are power forwards. Zetterberg works hard, and is physically tough, and Hossa is a large dude, but neither play a power forward's game.

Let's be honest. Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Vanek would score...a lot. I just don't want Vanek because the cap hit and term on that guy is going to be nuts. Oh, and because we could get just as much production out of Kesler for less (just sayin').

I also agree with what you are saying;

But i feel dats doesnt need a PWF, just someone who plays LIKE one (like you said i would say  )... covering the puck along the boards and winning battles making precise passes. Thats why Hossa was a perfect fit for him and always would be

Theres no doubt a Z-dats-Vanek line would score, but were on agreement that its not worth what he brings for the price/term. I also think that Z would need to be on this line in order for it to be productive.

Franzen-D-Vanek

Nyquist-D-Vanek

Just don't think these combinations would work for me, although abby would be possible

I love his speed and the way he shoots the puck, but I don't see the Kings letting him go. As others have said, he seems to be pretty comfortable on Kopitar's wing. With the cap going up and guys like Mitchell and Greene coming off the books (or signing for a fair amount less there), LA will have every opportunity to keep Gabs. They could even move Williams to shore up some cap space and let Toffoli jump into their top 6 if it came down to it.

Vanek only has his shot? Vanek has more career assists than goals. You don't really watch much Vanek thats for sure, and comparing him to Franzen is a joke. Vanek is one of the best players in front of the net, which most of his goals are scored from. Just incase you didn't know we need someone that can shoot and score, and a guy that can play in front of the net and cause havoc. Half the goals in the below video were from in front of the net off quick hands, deflections or breakaways. Something Abby can't provide.

Once again you have no idea what Datsyuk likes, no one does. Please don't assume Datsyuk would say no to play with Vanek.

Would take Kesler except we would trade a lot to acquire him. With new GM and Coach in Vancouver he isn't going anywhere anyways.

Okay, I can see that. They would be a pretty attractive team to go to. I thought you meant because of the style and system we play that he wouldn't fit here. I think he would fit in well with Dats and help the PP.
