Ryan ******* Reeves was traded for a first rounder. GMs overpay all the time. They can't help themselves. They see s*** other teams do and make panic moves.

And not once did i ever say AA would fetch a 1st this season so maybe you should follow your own advide and learn to read?

My points aren’t flawed your just seeing what you want to see ... AA was 24 last season and hitting career high’s and more important was an rfa with 3-4 years before hitting free agency , nyquist was walking in the summer and gusev has a grand total of 48 games in the nhl . The fact that anyone here would think he can land a 1st is ludicrous

Lmao @ these posts ... trading what we knew would likely be a 32/33rd  pick for gusev and then ending up getting back a 54-62 range pick + 3rd makes no sense . The 2nd we would trade would by far be the more important pick

You can bring up ryan reeves , and perron etc.. getting 1sts years ago but maybe you should check out the recent history of deals and notice how teams arent throwing away 1sts like they use to and quickly realize the chances of a player with 48 games experience getting a 1st back are non existent

Last year there were no similar trades for 1st round picks made. The year before, there were 5 similar trades made for 1st round picks. So yes, they are still being made, because dumb desperate GM's will always exist.

To land gusev when people wanted him would have required us a rebuilding team to trade what we all knew would be the 32/33 rd pick + a 3rd which made no sense giving up that basically late 1st pick to then now trade him and get those picks back but have that 2nd we now would fetch back be likely in the 53-61 range

You know why we didnt have similar trades? Cause teams have wised up and arent giving away 1sts as easily . This draft is really good and teams wont trade them away like in the past
