5:00pm EST GDT Bruins @ Red Wings - New Year, New Season

2023 started with a bang and ended with a whimper for the boys in red. Fortunately they're coming off an emotional win that they really needed and they've shown they can beat the Bruins when they play correctly. A win here would be huge and could be a turning point for this team. The 3rd divisional seed in the Atlantic is still very much up for grabs and now is the time to get dialed in. No significant injuries, no significant excuses. It's a new season baby. LGW!

If I were a betting man I'd obviously put my money on the Bruins. But we've beaten them twice this year and both times were legit wins. Nothing flukey. Further, the Bruins aren't playing their best hockey right now. They're 3-4-1 in their last 8 games. If we can play tight defensively and get a little Kane/Debrincat magic on the powerplay we might be in this one.

Bruins also played last night so if we jump on them early it could be an easy win. The first few games make it look like we matchup well against them.

If we pressure them early and they're out of gas from last night we might see a couple early powerplay opportunities. That would be huge for us. We draw more penalties than any other team in the league and they may be chasing the play for a bit there in the first.

The banter between John Keating and Chris Osgood has become an integral part of the Red Wings broadcast. Those two have great chemistry and they're genuinely hilarious. Considering how bad Osgood was to begin with maybe there's still hope for Jimmy Howard?

If Ben Chiarot was a winger he'd be one of the top power forwards in the league. But as it stands he's SUCH a bad defenseman.

Our D is old and bad... another year of Maata and Petry, 2 for Chiarot and Holl.

And Copp for 3 more years.  :-(

Compher has been an awesome addition vs say Petry

Hoping for a good trip out west and maybe get on a roll...yes I am an optimist!!

We played well for the most part. I'm encouraged by the effort against a team we have no business beating. We play the same way on the road trip we'll get some wins.

If not for the worst defense pair in the league we played a pretty solid game. I do not understand what Lalonde sees in that pair that the rest of us don't.

I dont understand how you can see a 39% corsi for and 40% fenwick defenseman and continiue to let him hurt your team continually.  Do the coaches and executives not have access to possession metrics statistics?  It's RIDICULOUS at this point.

Petry should've retired, looks like the uncle who slams 15 beers at the barbeque as he crams down glizzys and burgers until he falls asleep in his chair.

Quick aside: How long have other people called hotdogs "glizzys"? Like, I'm a hotdog fanatic. I eat them all the time. I get coneys even more often than that. I routinely talk about hotdogs, have hotdog tshirts, and have Joey Chestnut facts off the top of my head. Point is, I feel like I've got my thumb on top of hotdog culture and I only JUST heard this term. Where did this come from?

Glizzy Lizzy went viral, but apparently the term started in D.C.. I'm a glizzy lover myself.. Nathans, Hebrew national, and ballpark dogs are my favorites.
