They should trade Marner for help in defense, strip Tavares of the “C”, and then re-sign Tavares at 5.5 mil after his deal expires next season. You’d get help on defense, send a message to the remaining roster, and get short and long term cap relief.

That poor bastard Treliving...1st year in Tronna and he's gonna have to make some very tough decisions and face heat from his bosses/media/fans.

The Tuz taking his 5 mil and laughing all the way to the bank.  What a group.  So much underperforming you can't even count the amount of player suck on that team.

The Leafs are annoying. Do something, or go away! Seriously, enough already!

Any other market, the Core 4 would have been run out of town after losing to Montreal. These playoff losses are humiliating.

When you go on social media, Leafs fans seem to be the generation who were given participation trophies. They're always talking about the Leafs "haters", and defending their team/players.

There's not enough pressure to win in Toronto. Detroit, Philly, New York, Boston, etc. wouldn't put up with this. I'm shocked the fans in Toronto aren't livid.

They did the same s*** when "Phanuef was better than Chara" and "Kessell was gaining on Ovechkin". Then 5 years later they deny ever saying either. Rince and repeat.

I would have thought Toronto being the center of the hockey universe(insert sarcasm here). That the citizens would have been burning the town after the last couple years. Yet their hope for a better house using the same tools that failed is amazing.

Is Shanny finally on the hotseat?

I dont know why people think you can take guys with 9th grade education levels and make them head executives.  There's a reason those positions go to people with educations.

Shanahan probably is on the hot seat, but he shouldn't be. He's not the reason the team sucks, that's the GM. Shanny has been through three different GMs (Lou, Dubas, Treleving) and largely gave the leeway to shape the team how they chose. He's not the guy that puts a roster together. The guys who ARE responsible for that have consistently failed to recognize that having four excellent offensive players means jack squat if you can't defend. They can keep rearranging deck chairs all they want, but until they trade a high end forward for defensive help it doesn't matter who their President, GM, or coach is.

While I agree with your post.....It is the Toronto Maple Leafs-Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment where last time I looked they have an army of corporate types whom I believe 'assist' (nice way of saying intervene) with day to day business.

I've said it multiple times - years ago.....Dubas handing out blank checks to the Tronna Pretty Boys sealed their fate.....None of them had to 'work' to get their payday - the epitome of the participation medal generation.

IMHO - Tavares is the least of their problems...In fact they're lucky to have him.

We alive

Looks like the team played better without AM34 - like actual team/physical/tough hockey...Just sit him out for the remainder of the playoffs and watch them win the Cup on the back of MM16.

There's some truth to what you're saying.  Super Stars tend to stink at the type of play you need in the playoffs (along the boards, behind the net, stick check mania, body to body, etc).  Matthews is a guy that thrives IN SPACE.  When he doesn't get it, he has nothing else to give the team.  A guy like Marchand thrives in all environments.  You can put him on any line in any role, and he's going to get work done out there.  TO in 7 if they keep AM34 out.
