Peterka and Robo are available and affordable.

Hague, Dobson, Andersson, Ekblad, Byram, all available and affordable. (Ekblad UFA of course)

Yzerman just needs to sacrifice a 1st or two. The prospect pool is full of players, they won't miss a 1st or two.

Zegras trade just set the market though, all he got in return was a bottom 6 center, a 2nd and 4th. Dangling the 13th OA out there should get some teams talking.

I'm not getting on your case, seriously.

When you say affordable that's just your opinion and not stating what value that truly means.    Zegras is not close to Robo or Peterka or Byram etc, although for that price I would have matched that for sure.

What do you really think either of these 3 players would cost?    If we were selling them what would you deem fair value coming back to Detroit?   I just want to see what your definition of affordable is.   Go Wings!

For either Hague or Dobson, I'd give a 1st, D prospect (Tuomisto, Wallinder) and maybe a lower pick (3rd?)

Robo or Peterka, I'd give two 1sts, prospect (Danielson) and NHL player (Berggren or Soderblom)

I have ZERO issue paying up in order to acquire someone. I know we only have so many 1sts to toss around, but getting TWO of these players (one up front and one on D) would turn this team right around! We really aren't going to miss a couple of 1sts with our prospect depth.

May take more or less, but point is, we have the assets, the cap, and the need to acquire a top winger and a top D. Somehow, someway, Yzerman needs to do so or it'll be another year of crap.

I'd prefer a LHD. Trade for Hague or Miller, sign Ekblad (if he'd come home) for RHD.

Robo or Peterka are interchangeable. They'd both be expensive to acquire and to re-sign. At least Robo has a year left.

Seriously though, fans have had enough. Changes are needed, and not just subtle changes. Playoffs are a must this year or I am all for letting him go. He's drafted well, it's time to add IMPACT player(s) that fit the timeline. a 1st or two is not going to stall the plan. There are players available that will HELP this team AND be here for the glory. Just like when he got ADB. He NEEDS to have another (or two) trades like that.

Trade for a top line winger

Trade for a #1 LHD

Sign a #2 RHD.

They're out there. Available. And affordable.

He BETTER use his buyouts too! Nobody wants to trade for Holl or Tank? Good, buy them out. We need to cap and the spots.

This is where I think Yzerman has the system beat.

Any other GM would be on the hot seat and would feel the pressure to go all in right now to save their job. But SY isn't on the hot seat because he's Steve Yzerman.

He's been given the mandate to go slow and steady and I doubt he'll break from that gameplan. Even IF he seriously fumbled in big ways multiple times, the Illitch family would just move him to Jimmy Ds job. Think about what he willingly gave up in Tampa in order to come home to our crap heap roster. He's shown extreme loyalty to the Illitch family, and they will show him the same back. The address of the Joe was 19 Yzerman Drive for pete sake. And his proven track record in Tampa will keep the Illitch family very patient with his strats and methods...

That said, I'm with you Left, I think it's the right time to start taking big swings. But I'd venture to guess that in SY's mind - if this team cant make the playoffs organically - then he will stay the course and not make wild moves for them.

TLDR: Yzerman is untouchable and we will all suffer until our so called stars get serious about the playoffs

Dont look now, but Zegras didnt score much more than Poehling last year. And considering Zegras played in the top 6 and Poehling the bottom 6... in many ways you could argue Poehling was more productive.

Of course Philly is banking on Zegras rebounding in a big way, but IDK how much of that we will see... Zegras has proven to be a very soft one trick pony so far, and he's already 24.

I probably wouldnt make this move. A 30-40 pt bottom 6er and a high 2nd is a nice little return. Zegras is a big gamble for the Flyers.

The kid's upside is the thing.   You could be right in that Zegras has maxed out his growth or maybe he just lost his passion and desire for the game in Duckland.   Dunno.

Hague screams 3rd pairing guy and I wouldn't want to spit up our 1st for that.   Dobson's camp is looking at an 11M deal.   Hard pass, that's why they're considering moving him.

Two 1sts, Danielson + for Peterka is reasonable?

I'd be curious to know just how much the Rags would want for Miller

His first 2 seasons he played wing in an up tempo Eakins offence, and he was very sucessful.

Last 2 seasons they moved him to 2C in a shutdown Cronin system, and he really struggled.

Granted their entire team struggled, Cronin juggled the lines constantly, and they didnt have great wingers on the roster... But, It's clear to me Zegras is pure offense. If he suceeds in Philly it will be because they move him back to wing and allow him to attack attack attack IMO.

I don't think Zegras at all fits what Yzerman wants. He would come here, be again asked to commit to defense, and he would struggle. At that point his value would be even lower, and we will have "lost the trade". Thats just my opinion.

Sounds like Peterka is off the market.

Unrelared, but also looks like Bennett is re-signing with Florida.

I wonder what the return for Rasmus Andersson would look like. Although I do believe, via trade, we need a LHD to fill the top 4. Maybe Yzerman addresses both LHD and RHD via UFA?  Gavrikov, Provorov, or Lindgrin on the left and Ekblad on the right?

After this scooter incident he may not want to play in Detroit...

Please allow me to rewrite this article the way it shouldve been written:

SWEDISH MAN RIDING CHILDRENS TOY HIT BY DRIVER IN DOWNTOWN DETROIT

Rasmus Andersson - a player for the Calgary Flames of the NHL - was struck by a local driver today while traveling on a ride share scooter in the downtown area.

Fox News Detroit caught up with the NHL defenceman for a follow up interview:

Q: What happened out there today Rasmus?

A: It was a minor accident where I was bumped and knocked off my scooter yeah. I was a little bit shaken up but I was not seriously injured and will be ready for tonights game.

Q: Did you know scooters are for baby's?

A: Traditionaly they are for children, but ride sharing has made them really popular for adults now too.

Q: IDK sounds like you like baby shidt man.

A: I don't like baby things, no.

Baby-man Rasmus Andersson declined to answer further questions or comment.

Typically these communist "ride-share" scooters are found by local teens and dumped into the Detroit river. However, Rasmus was able to find one that had escaped detection.

When asked about the incident, the driver of the car involved commented only "Welcome to the motor city betch" and declined to answer further questions.

Communist Man-Baby Rasmus Andersson will suit up for tonights game against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Ceasar's Arena, despite our local hero drivers best efforts to destroy the Flames chances by eliminating their best Dman, and protect our fair motor city from the societal poison that is scooter ride sharing.

Catch the game tonight at 7pm on Fox Sports Detroit.

I'm honestly expecting no moves by Yzerman in the trade market. He'll just draft another 4 year development at 13 again.

Yea I've lost all faith in this front office. Other teams do creative things to get better. We trade a 4/5 defenceman with a 2nd round pick for "future considerations" because we're stuck in 1980s hockey guy logic.

Oh s***, he we go! Yzerman has re-signed William Lagesson to a 2 year extension!

In all seriousness, I'm pretty disappointed in Steve Yzerman. I guess the draft is still ahead, so he could still move the #13 and UFA is around the corner. But damn, he could've matched or bettered a few of these trades and we'd be a better team today.

I'm glad we either got turned down for Dobson or we turned the Isles down.

If I had to guess, the NYI ask would have been #13, Kasper and Wallinder or something close to that.

No thanks

Ah yes our press box specialist. He will likely also be our TDL acquistion when a Dman goes down late in the season. Bold move.

To COL: 2nd + 3rd + Gavin Brindley

To CBJ: Coyle + Miles Wood

I swear CBJ is the dumbest franchise in all of sports. Their entire org should be dissolved and, not moved, but completely restarted in Houston or something.

Coyle is washed up at 33. And Wood is a Motte+ tier 4th liner. And they cost a combined 8 mil. I wouldnt have given the Avs anything for that package, let alone 2 picks and Brindley, who would have easily been a 1st rounder in tonights draft.

Thanks Jackets! You gave the Avs 9 million in cap space so you could have some dumb garbage. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
