Nice. Cell phone company mentality. Screw the loyal ones, we need more money. There in lies the problem. It isn't a sport, it is a corporation. Canada lost hockey to the US and this proves that fact. Canadians were perfectly content with the sport but the beer drinking gut wearing football public of the US needed a hook to watch. Something to get them into the sport and dump millions on. Scoring too low, we'll fix that. Tired of games ending in a tie, welcome the shootout. Lack of cheerleaders got you down, ice girls (Thank god this hasn't caught on with every team). I give you American hockey. You're source for the stupid people I have to sit near when I go to games.
At least you apparently gained a new sport in American bashing.
"Waaahh! I can't hustle when Coach Babcock is yelling at me. Waaahh! the Red Wings stripped me of my confidence. Waaahh! It's not my fault I can't play hard and score goals in Detroit."
It honestly doesn't bother me that Ville is doing well somewhere else, but I lost respect for him here and he certainly didn't earn any well wishes from me. He didn't need to blossom, he needed to find a place where he could do things his way and without high expectations. I do however think Holland made a mistake by dishing him before he could establish any value but that was a cap issue. I don't think he was going to blossom like this under Babcock or in Detroit and his comments about his time with the Wings seem to reflect that.
I used to think I would feel betrayed, but with his Team Canada work and all the talk lately it just seemed like an inevitability. He has a great opportunity: he can't do any worse and has a great core squad to work with. With some luck he may just be able to mold Stamkos into Cindy's replacement as the face of the league, and wouldn't that be nice.
Jimmy D said early in the season the best these guys could ask for was just to get into the playoffs. Little did he know what kind of injuries and adversity these guys would have to fight through to get to where they did. The second half of this season was absolutely amazing, and I am as proud as ever to be a Wings fan, and proud of the team for what they accomplished this year. Thank you.
Just like many things and people with this team, Osgood is an idea whose time has passed. Let Howie lie in his bed. Besides throwing Ozzie into this mess would be one s***ty reward. He deserves better - let him have his victory lap in the rotation next season. Then its out to pasture with the rest.
