#1933939 Ville Leino Appreciation Thread

Posted by Carman on 07 April 2010 - 02:20 PM

Leino is locker room cancer.
He's an awful human being and is just lazy Eurotrash.

He is only getting points in Philly because he is playing with great North American players. Leino was the sole reason for the Red Wing's struggles and it's not a coincidence that he's never actively played on a team playing well(Red Wings started winning without him, and Philly started losing). He's a horrible influence and contributes nothing but a warm body that gets body checked by the opposing team.

He is everything that is wrong with the NHL, he is slow, soft, unmotivated and unintelligent. I'm just glad the Wings got the only good Finnish player ever in Flippula, hopefully he's the last player that wears the Winged wheel from that useless country.

I like Bertuzzi, and I loved getting him this year.

But I really wouldn't want him back, he's too inconsistent and too unreliable. He's been unusually lucky injury-wise(Knock on wood) this year, and doesn't have much left in the tank.

If we can get him at the same rate I'll be up for it, but most likely he'll get a raise and I'm not up for that.

I wouldnt have him playing for Grand Rapids.

Agreed, he would just poison everyone down there and set a horrible role model for Ritola/Tatar etc.

Leino doesn't even deserve to be in this great country, he should go back to being a s***ty player for a s***ty Finland league.

Green is improving defensively, but the point difference between him and Keith/Doughty/Pronger/Lidstrom isn't large enough to cover his lack of defensive dominance. He's not a liability, but he certainly isn't a defensive anchor, he takes a lot of chances and risks which result in odd man rushes.

Washington would be a very scary team in the playoffs if they actually had a good coach. A lot of natural talent on that team.

#1933001 Darren Helm plays on with broken nose

Posted by Carman on 05 April 2010 - 07:12 PM

He's a hockey player, I wouldn't expect anything less.

Although I love Helm, he never takes a shift off and is pretty much a perfect energy player(if only he could fight  ).

Who is honestly asserting that Osgood has played at the level Howard has? Those who are "defending" Osgood are defending the fact that Osgood isn't some s*** goaltender all of a sudden and that he still has a place on this team as a backup and mentor to Howard.

Oh I agree, but you would be lying if there aren't people on this forum crying that Babcock is the sole reason for Osgood's play.

I have no problem with defending Osgood, just a problem with people making up stats that show Jimmy Howard in a negative light, and people that cry that Babcock has a personal issue with Osgood etc.

I just can't see why we can't be happy that our goaltending has been a bright spot this year and leave it at that.

I'm getting a little tired of excuses from the Osgood crowd, he just has not produced this season.

That said, there is

A. No reason to bash Osgood, the whole team played like crap.

B. No reason to bash Babcock for keeping with Jimmy.

C. No reason to bash Howard for not having exceptional games the last couple starts.

Osgood simply is a back up now, it's Howard's team. Move on, this was a gimme game for Philly. Their season was at stake and they played well.

I have no problem with the goalie situation. I'm much more worried if our team can remain consistent(Zetterberg off one night, Datsyuk on and vice versa), but I believe they can pull it together in the playoffs.

No reason to start panicking because we lost one regular season game to a desperate playoff bubble team.

#1932132 How Good Is Howard?

Posted by Carman on 04 April 2010 - 02:07 PM

You are nitpicking his play a lot.

Howard is giving the team a great chance to win every game and is making key saves. That's all that matters to me.

Goaltending is a position where the best goalies in the world can look super-human one night, and god awful the next. I'm completely happy with how consistent Howard has been this season, especially considering how to team has been up and down.

No one knows how is he going to play in the playoffs, but every indication that you can document seems to be that he'll do well.

I'd say goaltending isn't the main issue facing us in the playoffs, our best players just can't seem to play a complete game and we are not overly physical. This concerns me more than seeing Jimmy or Ozzy in net.

Why do we need to attack either goalie?

No reason to try and use stats to hurt Howard, and no reason to wish Osgood to fail.

Let's just be happy we have an experienced goalie as a back up, and a young stud who has played great all year.

#1930782 Brendan Smith n ot part of Hobey Hat Trick

Yeah I like Smith and everything. I think he has a bright future, but this year he was essentially a 4th forward. He needs some big improvement in the defensive zone.

Smith is the Mike Green of College hockey...

I have no problem with him not being selected for the Hobey.

#1930756 Hudler done with dynamo

Posted by Carman on 02 April 2010 - 06:13 PM

Who asked who you wanted?

Why is this guy still here? Anyone got an answer?

I'm still here because 1). I'm not doing anything wrong. 2). There are some people that actually comprehend that wanting high paid Steve Downie over Hudler is a pretty preposterous opinion and is most likely a joke.

Is that answer sufficient enough for you?

I believe Hartnell still plays for Philadelphia. I would want him no where near Howard, with the playoffs coming up.

I don't think Hartnell has the effort to play dirty anymore to be honest haha.

This isn't as much about Osgood as it is about Howard.

It's Howard's team. I love Osgood, but this is to just give Howard a breather.

Ozzy will do fine, Philly is struggling and if he can't outplay Boucher than I don't know what to say.

Give Ozzy a few starts then let Jimmy play the last two games of the season to get into a groove.
