#2422614 17yr old hockey player charged for on-ice assault.

Posted by Ally on 27 June 2013 - 03:41 AM

This was a garbage fight but in my opinion the refs are the biggest issue. No 17 year old kid with that much adrenaline is counting how many punches he's thrown or looking to see if the other kid is trying to hit back. He's landing as many as he can and the refs job is to protect them and they failed.
All I'm saying is that if this kid gets convicted then you've set a precedent and there's nothing to stop people from pressing charges every time they lose a fight or are the victim of anything on the ice where there was a clear intent to injure.

Kid started it. Other kid took it WAY too far. Still don't think he should be criminally charged. Just banned from the league or something equally serious but not criminal.
I just think it's a slippery slope to press charges on a hockey fight.

#2422362 Gary Bettman Stanley Cup Presentations

Posted by Ally on 26 June 2013 - 01:34 AM

I would like to see a past player present it.
BUT I do feel a small sense of comradery with the fans in the arena knowing we all bond over our hatred of the troll.

#2421817 Hypothetical - Crosby soon to be a Wing. Who do you give up?

Posted by Ally on 24 June 2013 - 05:43 PM

Despite being the best player in the league, I wouldn't want to give up anything good for him.
Maybe I'm putting too much importance on personality of a player but part of the reason I fell in love with the Wings was because of the type of players that they had. Crosby is every primadonna trait that I hate rolled in to one player.

#2421562 NHL considering ban on spin-o-rama in shootout..

I'd be okay with 3 on 3.
I'd be even more okay with the shootout being gone entirely.

There isn't a scenario in which I would want less hockey.

#2420395 Paul MacLean won the Jack Adams

Posted by Ally on 17 June 2013 - 09:43 PM

My only problem with Maclean winning is that even if I wasn't a Wings fan I'd be saying Babs should have had it. When you consider what he lost (not just retirement but our insane injury list) and the fact that he still got the Wings to the playoffs. The fact that Q was nominated was maybe the most irritating thing about the awards this year.

#2418946 What would you give up for Malkin?

I like people acting like picking up a superstar basically guarantees us a cup.
On paper the Pens were basically an all star team and they still got swept.

I don't understand being against this.

#2417493 ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

Posted by Ally on 03 June 2013 - 09:49 PM

Pittsburgh adds 2 captains and a defenseman at the trade deadline and totally forgot that their goalies are Swiss cheese.

This is exactly what I was trying to tell everyone when they were saying "might as well just give the cup to e penguins right now" after those acquisitions. Firepower hasn't ever been their problem.

#2417121 2013 Detroit Red Wings Eulogy

Posted by Ally on 02 June 2013 - 04:13 PM

Not as funny as some of the other eulogys that have been posted. I did get a little laugh about it and I'm definitely guilty of the "how many cups have you won?" Line but that's largely due to being surrounded by Canucks fans.
I give the article a solid "meh"

#2416963 Who Do You Want to Win the Cup?

Posted by Ally on 01 June 2013 - 11:00 PM

I vote Boston because:
1. I hate Chicago and their "fans" who think their team is a legit dynasty even though most of them can't name who was captain before Toews.
2. I hate Pittsburgh, their fans, Crosby, Malkin, Iginla, and the homerism of NBC.
3. I don't want another team to win back-to-back Cups unless it's the Wings.
And the city of Boston could use some good feelings.

Exactly this. Except add Matt Cooke to reason #2.
Boston has always been my second favorite team anyway so easy choice.

Is it weird that I love Datsyuk even more for still being so terrible at English after so long?
