#2533082 2014 Prospects Tournament and Training Camp (Sept. 12-23)

Posted by WingsallTheway on 27 July 2014 - 03:54 PM

Karate Chop Ken Holland in the face and ask him what the f*** his problem is

Illitch has him working extra hours on the golf course so he can play in the PGA tour, bringing extra money to the franchise.

Which can be spent on Cleary

#2530910 Kane & Toews Sign Identical 8-year, $10.5M AAV Extensions

I think Kane is better than Toews

I don't think either is worth $10.5 million

#2529732 Article on FAs and Red Wings

Posted by amato on 03 July 2014 - 10:51 AM

If I have to listen to one more person whose never been to Michigan dis Detroit, I'm going to scream.  I actually moved here last year over Chicago because I have the opportunity to own a house.   Detroit is not why FAs aren't signing.  Something is very wrong with this team, be it the team vibe, the coach or management.  From what I've heard from insiders (people who actually work with the team) Babcock has lost the locker room.  Until we figure out the problem and solve it, there will be rough times ahead.  And if the GM can't diagnosis the problem then perhaps he needs a new job.

I agree it's not why people aren't signing here but I didn't see anything in that article "dis detroit" as a city..?

I've heard that players don't like babs but that they also respect him as a coach... I don't think he's lost the locker room, but I could be wrong. There are different reasons players haven't been signing here and they all seem personal to the player, not pinnable to one thing about the red wings' organization. I'm not worried about it though.. the growth of the kids is enough to get me excited about each season and I'm pretty excited to see a healthy weiss.. he can be a difference maker on the ice. although I am of course hoping for that elusive right handed top 4 d-man....

#2529880 When will we know about Alfie? (Legwand signed w. Sens)

Posted by arag on 03 July 2014 - 07:47 PM

It's funny Kenny won't let Quincey go because he gave up a 1st rounder for him, yet he will not re-sign Legwand who he basically offered up a similar package for....

It is not just that. Cleary won't sign with Detroit unless Quincey is on the team. Kenny signed Quincy so Cleary will agree to sign with the Red Wings.

#2529320 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

Posted by Euro_Twins on 02 July 2014 - 07:52 AM

So. After a night's sleep on this I have come to realise one thing. If I tried to ignore all the posts I didn't like in this thread, I'd be left with virtually nothing to read.

Seriously though, everyone really does need to just chill. We've still got a very good, competitive team that will see improvement from our kids (both at forward and D), hopefully a return to form from our number 1 goalie, hopefully a healthy season from Weiss and a full season from Datsyuk and Z. That alone should get us a good solid seeding for the playoffs. I'll bet on that.

Yes the Quincey move does look a little panicked, but I still believe that he had a solid second half (I saw it with my own eyes after all, and I'm sure several others did). The thing with a D man like Quincey is, that when he is playing well, you don't notice he's there, such that if anyone asked you if he had a solid second half, you wouldn't be able to remember because he never did anything spectacularly good or bad.

There is, in my opinion, absolutely no reason to panic, because we haven't had a losing season since 1991. I don't need to sit here and regurgitate the facts. But the point is, I could understand if people were being defeatist and calling for KH's head if we had a horrendous season, but the fact, is, we didn't. By all accounts it was a good season, if not miraculous. And we saw the future develop right before us that I believe will be our core for years to come. They might not contain the next D or Z, but let's face it, when those guys were rookies, did anyone ever envisage them turning into the stars they are today?

The point is, this team didn't get any worse at all this offseason. In fact, it got better as the kids will have another year's worth of season and playoff experience, we;ll be healthy again (touch wood), and we subtracted some old worn out parts (Bertuzzi, Samuelsson - and hopefully Cleary but that remains to be seen). Oh yea, and we've got Mantha turning pro, and several kids in GR ready to step in and actually challenge for jobs in training camp.

So why all the doom and gloom? There is actually a lot to like about this teams future.

We did have a horrendous season. Barely making it into the playoffs. All the injuries. Goaltending and defense issues. What part of the season was miraculous? Just because nyquist went on an absolute tear in the last half doesn't make it a miraculous season. In fact it shows how bad we were that one (basically rookie) had to carry our team. Holland can talk about us needing that right hand shot on the blue line all he wants. Until he actually does something useful for once he has lost this loyal Holland defenders confidence.

It all depends on what you expect. If you expect the Red Wings to be equal or worse than the Minnesota Wild, then you're ok. (actually the Wild was better than them last year.)

If you hope for them to win the Stanley Cup or go to the Finals, then you're disappointed. We saw this team barely make the playoffs last year, I can't expect there to be a dramatic improvement with the same ingredients.

F*** Ken Holland.

I don't trust Holland to trade anyone, he would just fack that up as well.

i still have a feeling that Kenny has a trade up his sleeve  :withstupid:

Honestly, the TSN guys are saying that Holland has had serious discussions with Buffalo re Tyler Myers.  24 years old, right handed shot, 6'8".  I think he'd fit in well here.

#2512721 ECQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Bruins 4 - Series tied 1-1

Posted by GoalieManPat on 20 April 2014 - 05:10 PM

Franzen needs to start playing or be bought out. He is not worth the cap hit for the 25 games a season he shows up for. The rest he brings nothing to the team. He can't live off the playoffs anymore as he now has just as many bad ones as he has good. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

The reffing is what it is, but its a shame that it seems like off ice complaining impacts calls. I think the league wanted more pps today to give bos every chance to tie the series. Every other organization is corrupt, why let a big money making machine off the hook?
I still think this game had more to do with no pressure in the ozone, no speed tonight.

#2509849 Gus & Tatar almost traded to Calgary per McKenzie

Posted by dirtydangles on 15 April 2014 - 05:01 PM

If this is true - which it may not be - it shows how little Ken Holland really knows/believes in his prospects. Jarnkrok is killing it over in NSH and these two are playing amazing in Detroit. You can't just go offering up young players as trade bait before you see what they can do in the NHL - its stupid. If Jarnkrok had put up 9 points in 12 games in Detroit prior to the trade his value would have been much higher and he would be valued similar to Sheahan currently. Bottom line - give prospects a legitimate NHL chance to solidify their value before you go and ship them off.

#2505692 Apparently it can get worse in Vancouver.

Posted by VM1138 on 04 April 2014 - 07:31 AM

Yup. I never understood why people thought Tortorella was a good coach. The guy is like a two year old.

I'll also never understand how there can be so many bad owners and GMs. I get that it's a hard job, but if people like us can see problem areas three years in advance, why can't they?

#2502644 Avery vs. Brodeur

Posted by Son of a Wing on 28 March 2014 - 04:00 PM

So Brodeur can make fun of Avery's personal life but Avery can't attack him back?

The whole thing is childish and Brodeur should know better...he had it coming this time...
