My hopes for next season are just that they're competitive and give me a postseason appearance and something to root for. I don't really expect them to win the Cup. That might sound like loser talk (and maybe it is), but having never experienced a championship from one of my teams, the one title means a whole lot, even if it does mean we might not win one anytime soon. If we're just a 95-100 point team with some exciting young players over the next couple years, I'll be okay with that. It was worth it to me, and I think most Blackhawks fans would feel the same way. There will be a grace period with us. It probably is different in Detroit since you guys are used to winning Cups, but 1 is enough for now in Chicago. Just put a competitive product on the field and I can deal with it. I'm not really expecting more anyways. -
3 pointslol. don't compare the two. osgood has 3 stanley cups and is 10th all time in wins.

Curious... True, true, the article says he wouldn't rule out any more trades. But the implication of the article was that they didn't need to shed any more salary, which wasn't true. -

Modano done in Dallas
LeftWinger and 2 others reacted to wingsownnhl43 for a post in a topic
Let Miller walk, Sign Modano. The way I look at is that we already have five bottom five forwards. (Helm, Abdelkader, Eaves, Draper, Ritola). Miller has no place here. If a veteran is going to come along for cheap that could help strengthen the top 9, then pull the trigger. -

I liked the "hes not part of their plans TODAY" bit. I just hope we sign at least a defenceman today. Or a scoring veteran for Grand Rapids. -

K next question for Mr. Blackhawk. How would the Hawks look if they lost also lost Ladd, Huet, and Bolland/Sharp? Here's what I get with the $4 mil in overage (since you cant back up the $1.3) AUTO-GENERATED CAPGEEK.COM LINES FORWARDS Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m) Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / * Jack Skille ($1.275m) Tomas Kopecky ($1.200m) / Kyle Beach ($1.171m) / Marty Reasoner ($1.150m) Troy Brouwer ($1.025m) / Viktor Stalberg ($0.850m) / Jake Dowell ($0.525m) * Bryan Bickell ($0.500m) DEFENSEMEN Brian Campbell ($7.143m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m) Brent Seabrook ($3.500m) / * Niklas Hjalmarsson ($2.643m) Brian Connelly ($0.875m) / Simon Danis-Pepin ($0.850m) Shawn Lalonde ($0.773m) GOALTENDERS * Antti Niemi ($2.826m) / Corey Crawford ($0.800m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (no bonus cushion is used in these calculations) ROSTER: 22; CAP: $55.4m; PAYROLL: $57.795m; CAP ROOM: $-2.395m I'm lazy and just put 2's in front of Hjalmarsson's and Niemi's cap hits. I'm guessing they'll be signed somewhere in that range. But, this still leaves them with $2.4 mil to cut. -

But it's not a Hawks board. The number of Hawks threads on here is proportional to volume of Blackhawks related hockey news. You're reading the "General Discussion" boards of a hockey forum. The Blackhawks trades and potential trades are dominating TSN and the rest of the relevant hockey news media. Why would you expect our general discussion forum to be any different? The difference is that you're playing the role of the antagonist in every ******* Hawk thread. You haven't contributed to anything on here-- you're shaking up a bee's nest and giggling like a ******* 8 year old girl. TL;DR : f*** off with the trolling. You provide nothing of substance on these boards and are an annoyance. -

My thoughts exactly. I really like Miller, but he's redundant. We have better players that fill his role. -

Life must be pretty good in Red Wing Land if people are bemoaning the possible loss of a bottom pair defenseman... Seriously... there are about a million dudes that could replace Lilja. I like Lilja, but he is not a 'make or break' player by any stretch. -

Considering you seem to complain far more then anyone else on this board, it's easy to see how you would think that. No disrespect meant, just stating the fact that not everything in the World will always go the way you want it. I can deal with boring offseasons if the exchange is long post seasons. -

Red Wings make qualifying offers to nine players
Konnan511 reacted to eva unit zero for a post in a topic
The Wings' top four are all signed. They are Lidstrom, Kronwall, Rafalski, and Stuart. This is pretty established. Despite the number of defensemen the Wings have under contract or have the rights to, ultimately, the final spot comes down to Janik vs. Meech. It's Meech, the younger, better version of Lebda, who the Wings kept ahead of Kyle Quincey with a similar skill set. Yes, the Kyle Quincey that much of this board is saying "why didn't we keep him? against Janik, a similar player to Lilja as we all remember him before the injury, but not quite as effective as Lilja ever really was. Meech could very well play his way into the #5-#7 slot. He's better defensively than Ericsson or Kindl, and once signed he'll be the fastest defenseman we have, with the possible exception of Rafalski. Janik also could be the #7 guy. He isn't going to make the top 6, but he's as solid a third pair defensive/physical grinder as you'll find for less than $1.25m. If there's enough cap space, put 'em both on the roster and use as needed. Meech literally can play any position, so having a guy like him around is a huge asset. Especially at his price, assuming he signs for less than $1m. Both definitely have their reasons that they would fit the team well. Meech would be instantly grabbed on waivers while Janik wouldn't. Meech is also younger with a much higher ceiling, and is a good failsafe if Ericsson and/or Kindl get injured and/or flop. Janik is pretty much a one-trick pony who does his job well, while Meech is a decent all-around player who skates very well. I'd take Meech, but there's no reason to say Janik's a bad choice either. Janik can also be kept on the roster or in the A as emergency filler if needed. -

Rafalski Considered "top six signings since the 2005-06 season"
TheDetroitRedWings reacted to Carman for a post in a topic
Rafalski is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. He might be overpaid, but it's not egregious. And overpayment tends to happen when you sign elite players when they are a free agent in their prime.
