Has anyone else become really annoyed by Mike Modano? Aside from the off-season drama last year, and his lackluster play this year, combined with his "I don't think I have the fire to play in the playoffs" statement BEFORE they started, this latest development just makes me chuckle at his complete lack of heart. He is apparently considering playing another season, but the Wings won't resign him. But his attitude is "Well, if someone offers I guess I'll play, otherwise I'll quit." Gee, who wouldn't be lining up to sign a guy who really doesn't appear to care if he plays again or not? The reason all the talk is around Carter is because a lot of Philadelphia sources said he is the main piece in a trade with Columbus. This is Philys last chance to trade him cause once the season start he has leverage with his NTC. I know Carter to Detroit is a far fetch cause if he is on the market a lot if teams will be asking about him, but nothing is impossible and it is known what our needs are. Do I think they are going to move Carter? I have no idea. I live in the Philly area and a lot if their fans want him gone cause of his playoff. Performances and because they said he is causing problems in the locker room. I will say this though, it is a very low blow move to sign Carter for an 11 year deal and then trade him away. Only a couple months before his NTC kicks in and send him to a bad team. That would look very bad if Phillys part so id they part with him I think they should bs cautious where they send him cause burying him in a bad organization will look bad. Crash

We need a right handed shot..end of story. We need a right handed winger who can play the weak side on the PP for one timers and now with Raf gone we are going to need a righty on the PP. Great shooting tutorial but it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that a couple of righties on this team would be key. I'm not saying we can find another Hull or Shanny and its obvious that right handed shots are hard to find but if found they are very very valuable.

To me this was not nearly as bad of a check as some would have it. Forget the breakdown of "he was on his 3rd stride" crap. Charging? Charging is what Raffi Torres or Jordin Tootoo do on every shift. Charging is what Dallas Drake did to Lebda a few years ago when he was still on the Blues. This hit was Rome's shoulder (with elbow tucked in) smack into the middle of Horton's chest, just above the "B" crest. No targeting of the head. The only reason the aftermath looks terrible is that his skates come out from under him and he hits the ice with all of his weight on the back of his own head. Thats why the curtains fell and the lights went out for him. He wasnt out prior to hitting the ice. This is the Cup Finals. Anyone who doesnt see that the game is called differently from the regular season needs to go and watch a regular game right after tonite's game. There is a massive difference. Every time that the puck is in the defensive zone on a defender's stick - and they pass it up and out of the zone there is ALWAYS a fore-checker that hits him well after the puck is gone. In the finals a hit on a D after the puck is gone (and the camera pans away to follow the puck) is called "FINISHING YOUR CHECK" even when it is well after a second later. If that is not interference then this should not be either. No one is clamoring for suspensions or penalties there because its against the boards and no one got hurt. You cant claim that this was a "late hit" if you dont examine all of the "finishing his checks" that happen every playoff game. They should be viewed one and the same - regardless of whether someone got hurt. Personally I love the physicality and finishing checks. Some times people get hurt when they dont have their head up. But if the league wants consistency then late hits are late hits - whether open ice, boards, injury etc.

Reclamation, in the vain of Eaves, Bert, and Cleary. Sign him relatively cheap for a year, if he works out, great, if not cut him. No harm no foul.

It wouldn't... they need to move, hockey in Miami is about as bad of an idea as hockey in Arizona was... I can appreciate the southern expansion idea, but those were horrible ideas from day one and to be honest, Florida is probably a worse idea than Phoenix was...
