edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Another chance to laugh at the Pens. It's almost as if they're TRYING to be horrid so they can stack their team with low first-rounders. Word of advice, Pittsburgh...your problems extend beyond the crease.

theman19 47 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 Florida are idiots if they trade for fleury when they already have belfour & auld florida doesn't have decent goaltending prospect in there system. What are they gonna do when belfore retires? If auld stinks it up? Floridas goaltending might be the most suspect in the league next ours.

Floridas goaltending might be the most suspect in the league next ours. St. Louis, Los Angeles, Carolina (if Ward looks like last regular season and not last playoffs), Columbus (Leclaire is totally unproven and they have no backup), Edmonton, Montreal (Huet is totally unproven and Aebischer is a huge questionmark), Toronto (Raycroft and Aubin?? Potentially very good or very bad.), Washington (Kolzig is mediocre, and he's all they have) all have more suspect goaltending than Detroit or Florida. Seth 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 I think this rumor is BS. If you think about it do the Pens have any real depth in G?... Bobby Goepfert & Patrick Ehelechner...no not really. Ya perahps I could see them tradin him for another great G prospect but...Point is Im calling BS.
Kass 7 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 With his performance tonight (Got a shutout even though he faced 40+ shots) I think that this rumor is dead. Not that that i thought it could happen in the first place.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Kolzig is not mediocre. Teams with better starters than Kolzig: Anaheim, Buffalo, Calgary, Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit, Florida, Minnesota, Nashville, New Jersey, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Phoenix, St. Louis, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Vancouver. You can even potentially add Atlanta, Boston, Columbus, Montreal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Toronto, but the starters for those teams are still largely unknown quantities. Even so, the initial list puts Kolzig outside the top 20 goalies in the league, and that's not even including the handful of backups who are better than him. With about 65 goalies in the NHL, Kolzig sits right near the 30 mark. For an NHL goaltender, he is mediocre.

wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 Fleury is a great goaly. I wonder what it would take to get him in our uni I don't think they would trade there goalie prospect.. He played very well against the flyers, he got the SO
bradman349 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 Florida are idiots if they trade for fleury when they already have belfour & auld Well Belfour is exactly in his prime, the guy is 41 and was barely average last year with Toronto. And, I know the season is still young, but Belfour was lit up for 4 goals and was pulled after 26 minutes in his first game for the Panthers and it wont get any better for him as the season progresses. Trading for Fleury would be a great idea for an iffy pair of goaltenders
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Ok, Fleury for Hasek straight up... hahahaha I like Hasek, this is merely a joke since Fleury is young, playing great, and has a strong future in front of him.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 The only starters with worse numbers than Kolzig this season: Lundqvist, Theodore, Thomas, Cloutier, Joseph. That's offset by the following backups with 5+ appearances that have better numbers: Emery, Nabokov, Garon, Aebischer, Hedberg, Budaj, Dunham, Holmqvist. That means Kolzig has been playing worse than 24 starters, and at least eight backups..making him at best the 33rd best goalie in the league this season. In other words...mediocre. WingMachine91 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2006 look at the team kolzig is on, a team with no defense that leaves him out to dry every night. you cant take his numbers and say that he sucks. Put him on a team with some support and he will be great, if u remember he did take the caps to the finals against the wings. he is solid and i would put him above mediocre, but at this point in his career, i would not say he is great

Who beat him at the other end? Oh yeah...Chris Osgood. You can't bring up 98 and use it as a reason Kolzig is better than Osgood or anyone you claim is better than Osgood....that's downright crazy. EDIT: Also, former Blues goaltender Brent Johnson has outplayed Kolzig thus far on the same Caps team...and nobody would say Johnson is anything but a journeyman. Posted by TJ Code This sounds like BS. If the Pens are looking to move Fluery in exchange for another goalie, why the hell would St. Louis be involved, they have nothing. If they are looking to move a goalie for some other position, why would San Jose be involved, they have too many. The Pens don't have enough skill behind Fluery to depend on a back-up. The whole thing sounds a little cockememe.
