Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Yes, evidently the food chain has been turned upside down, as predators have become prey to penguins. Hehehe. Anyway, 1-4. Once we pick up the next two guaranteed wins, we'll be either down 1 pt or up by 1.
rwfan007 18 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 don't count your chickens buddy, nothing is guaranteed in the NHL. It would be nice to pick up the next two wins, but as we have seen this year, anything can happen.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Nashville hosts the somehow streaking Leafs on Thursday. Won five in a row and seven of their last eight. I believe they are 8-2 in their last 10 road games.
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 I don't think St Louis is a guranteed win for us anymore sadly, especially not on the road on a back to back night. I sense a split coming from the next couple days.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2007 I sense impending doom. We will lose the next two games, meanwhile as the season goes on, the rest of the Western Conference will win all of their games and we will miss the playoffs. Joke.

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 SWEETNESS!! Hope the Leafs crush them on Thursday! Well, they won't score a lot of goals. Simply not enough offensive depth for that to happen. The Leafs game is a physical, high-pressure game. The Antropov-Sundin-Ponikarovsky line is simply too strong to be contained around the net. Nobody any smaller than 6'4" on that line. The biggest difference has been Raycroft's discovery of how to stop the puck.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2007 The biggest difference has been Raycroft's discovery of how to stop the puck. Yeah--I've heard that he hit his head on a table a couple weeks ago and knocked himself out. Evidently Legace happened onto a puck-induced trip into unconsciousness, and look how he's been playing since.

Definitely my favorite player on the Leafs. I think the kid has potential to become a 20-goal scorer.

Definitely my favorite player on the Leafs. I think the kid has potential to become a 20-goal scorer. Well, he scored 18 last year, so I would hope he could become a 30-goal guy, but that's pushing it. He was the Leafs best player in January. He had a slow start to the season. His first son was born early in the season and that lead to a lot of distractions, plus the pressure of living up to his 45-point rookie season. He's got his confidence back and it looks like he'll be able to save the rest of his season.

jagr68 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Although the shots were pretty even, the Pens seemed to play very well. They had the puck in their possession more often than Nashville. Crosby and Malkin had 2pts each. Fleury played another good game. The Pens are now 9-0-2 in their last eleven, picking up 20 of 22 possible points. They sure turned it around. One interesting thing the Pens announcers showed was a stat about Nashville. They are 17-2-3 against Columbus, St. Louis, and Chicago. Three of the weaker teams not only in the division, but in the entire NHL (Philly is worse though). It begs the question, is Nashville the best NHL team, or do they simply win the games that are 'must win divisional games'. Seems the Wings struggle a bit beating teams that they should win against. That win for the Pens is huge, will give them a lot of confidence, and the Wings surely appreciate the help. They are still only a few points behind. Should be a interesting finish for the NHL this year...

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Woo hoo! Let's not get too ahead of ourselves though. I see no reason that the Wings will lose to Phoenix unless the Yotes just play lights out or the Wings dink around, or both. I won't be shocked for Phoenix to play desperate as they still have a fighting chance for a final playoff spot. The same goes with St. Louis. We saw them play pretty solid against the Wings last week despite the loss. 2/4 points is not a guarantee, especially with the games on back-to-back nights. say it again everybody, nashville just doesnt scare me. not now, not in the play-offs. also, ive noticed that Anaheim has come back down to earth after their real hot start. Nashville concerns me. All teams concern me b/c if you don't give it your full effort and play around the top of your game, you're likely going to get beaten more often than not, I don't care who the team is. Is Nashville's record inflated by playing so many games against those 3 teams? Honestly though, losing to the Pens right now is not a surprise, I think the Pens are the hottest team in the league right now. It's been awhile since they have lost in regulation. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself, but Joey Mac has got to come up big for us, if the Wings are going to take that top spot. Here's hoping. Sidenote: Thank you Pittsburgh!

dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Though I usually just watch Wings games on CI, I watched this one and I must say Malkin was dominant. Nashville is a damn good team in any division. A division can have 2 basement dwellers and that's ok but if there's 3, it makes the leader's record suspect? Not by enough to really comment about.
