Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=28885...mp;service=page Stuart, Primeau, draft pick for Ference and Kobasew. Wow, pretty good deal for calgary, they seem pretty serious about making a cup run this year. Boston gets ripped off huge, don't know what they're thinkin. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Really good deal for the Flames. What the hell was Boston thinking? How did they think this deal was even fair?
Rice 42 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Really good deal for the Flames. What the hell was Boston thinking? How did they think this deal was even fair? The only upside that I see for Boston is Ference is signed through 09-10 and Kobasew has another year left on his current deal then he's restricted. Primeau and Stuart are both UFA's. Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 witt got a first last year, but boston can't even get a high draft pick/good young player and they even threw in primeau.
Rice 42 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 So, looking back the Bruins traded Joe Thornton for Kobasew, Ference, and Sturm.
Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 So, looking back the Bruins traded Joe Thornton for Kobasew, Ference, and Sturm. Not so fast. Sturm is probably on the block also. Stay tuned

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 All I've heard about Kobasew for the past five years is that he's going to be a star. If that's the case, how is this a bad deal for Boston? At worst, they pick up a solid defenseman and a good young forward for a couple years in exchange for two guys they had no guarantee of keeping after April--and probably have an equal chance of signing this summer as they did before the trade. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 So, looking back the Bruins traded Joe Thornton for Kobasew, Ference, and Sturm. Gosh, I wonder why they suck so bad
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Wow a really good deal for the flames, my old man will be happy with this since he's a huge flames fan... Well they might just make a solid cup run and they won't have to worry about the shootouts because kipper sucks in them
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Looks pretty win for Calgary.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 This isnt as great a deal as many think it is. Brad Stuart is the most talked about soon to be UFA defenseman right now next to Souray. Hell command big bucks and will likely test the market. Ference is a solid defenseman with a few good years left on his contract. Kobasew, although not doin too well this year, is still a solid young guy. Not a bad trade for Boston
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Looks like Boston will continue their tradition of not re-signing UFA:s. Sturm should be next.
theman19 47 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 calgary now has a ridiculous defense i look for them to go far this year
superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 That is such a sketchy trade, what is Boston doing. Ference is good yeah, but damn it dude get some prospects.
The Enforcer 13 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Not a bad deal for Calgary. maybe the cup will come back to Canada this year.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 11, 2007 Good deal for Calgary. Stuart at the top of his game is very good offensively, and Premieau is an ok player. Boston at least gets Ference, who is a pretty solid defenseman, but Kobasew? They could have gone after some young prospects like Eric Nystrom rather than Kobasew.
