O man. I hope Holland signs SOMEONE at this point. Lately, its been pretty quiet and Red Wings buzz regarding Guerin has all but silenced. i can just imagine holland after the trade deadline......"We decided that we were satisfied afterall with the current lines".

Says ye of little faith. ;)

Yea, more screaming panic.

I find hillarious the fact that, despite the Wings having been #1 or #2 seed and gotten knocked off by far supposedly-inferior teams, many people here seem to think that we can't beat a "better" team. Ah, yea, right. Shouldn't your pessimism go both ways? Oh, wait..

EDIT: This referred not to you, HoH, but to the person to whom you responded--- <3

Son of a *****, what a great trade by the preds... Well now i would say they will be coming out of the western conference come playoff time.. They are just that much dangerous now :scared:

EVERYONE SAID THE SAME ABOUT THE RED WINGS LAST YEAR. "CAN ANYONE BEAT THE DETROIT RED WINGS?" ETC.

THINK!

Edit: I bet someone will come up with a reason why this doesn't apply here.. heh

How can you compare last year when at the deadline we got Cross  .. And this year the preds get an all star player in Forsberg

The thing that frustrates me is if we were to acquire Forsberg it would open a lot of doors. Forsberg is an instant upgrade over Lang. Deal Lang for whatever you can get and you still have cap room for a scoring winger.

This is a great display of your complete and total inability to distinguish the differences between the 2006 Red Wings at the deadline and the 2007 Predators at the deadline: the players available at those deadlines, the cap space available at those deadlines, the make up of those teams at the deadlines.

It is with great conviction that I demand that Cory Cross never be again mentioned here or in any other place, at this and all points in the future, due to most folks' complete lack of understanding for it.

Thank you.

Well I remember Blues and Hawks fans on their message boards saying "GIVE THE CUP TO THE WINGS" after we aquired Lang a couple years back.I mean this makes the Predators a lot better team but then again who knows but this is pretty much a done deal as im typing this im watching Philly vs Toronto (I have center ice) and they just mentioned it.All I have to say is.........F--KIN DO SOMETHING KENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omfg, what do you know? I'm right. People will always try to come up with a reason that we've got to be catastrophic and pessimistic.

FYI, moron, the sportscasters saying the Wings were unstoppable said so going into the playoffs. That was a full 6 weeks after the trade deadline. The fact was that we were utterly on fire and didn't need anyone, let alone Cory Cross. Trade deadline acquisitions were unnecessary. The Wings ended the season 17-1-3 after the trade deadline, with that 1 loss being an utterly meaningless final game against Nashville in which Babcock scratched half the team for rest. As such, you can be assured that the Red Wings still tore through the league after all the good teams had gotten their fancy trade-deadline acquisitions.

Know your role.

that doesn't mean they won't kick our ass in another round

that doesnt mean Forsberg will manage to stay healthy that long.

Seriously, the Preds gave up a TON for a guy who is so injury prone and who most likely wont stick with the Preds, especially since Brendan Morrison is a free agent this year. I wouldnt be surprised to see Forsberg hightail it over to Vancouver to be with his best buddy Nazzy with an top 2 open center spot.

On the bright side, now we might actually have a Nashville rivalry on our hands.

To add to what I just said, I really don't think Nashville gave up too much. It's a good deal for both teams. The first round pick will end up being bottom five of the top 30 so it's essentially a second rounder. Parent or Franson (yet to be confirmed) are good prospects. Upshall won't crack the roster in Nashville. The third is, well, a third. This is similar to Holland dealing Kindl, Hudler, a first, and a third. In fact, I think our package is probably better than Nashville's. Granted it is a big risk but Forsberg is Forsberg. He would do wonders for the team's secondary scoring which we so desperately need.

I know I'm speaking hypothetically. Maybe Holland did offer a package similar to Nashville's and Philadelphia wasn't interested. I dont know. I just got my hopes up.
