Hasek Out 2 Games With Thigh Injury

It should be noted that last season the Senators originally said Dom "might miss a couple games (after Torino)", and we know what that became. Also note that Dom noted "tightness", meaning it's a muscle pull or strain, not a bone bruise or anything else--have you guys seen some of the moves he's been making in the last two games? Falling back on his pad and such...most goalies would blow a knee doing that, but it's no surprise that it's put stress on him. Also note the proximity to the wrist issue.

Let's face it, Babcock has made the same mistake Murray made last year, overplaying him. Who cares if he's facing twenty shots per game, he's still going up and down on forty including blocked and wide shots, not to mention warmups. Dom's an old guy with a body that is more age-riddled than his mind. He's just asking for trouble being in this many games. He'll probably be back, but they could've avoided this by not playing him so much.

As long as Dom is back for the postseason and Osgood isn't starting in the playoffs I'm happy. I'd rather put Bertuzzi in net, bad back and all! lol

If Dom is out in the playoffs, once Ozzie bombs, maybe Howard can pull a Cam Ward for his playoff debut. As long as he doesn't pull a Ward regular season the following year though, haha.

Osgood is not THAT BAD as you are dramatizing.

Hopefully this won't lead to any kinda goofy phantom injuries with Hasek. I'm not too alarmed about this (yet), hopefully this doesn't lead to an injury between the legs...can kinda relate to this right now, went for a pretty intense jog/run on Wednesday evening and didn't stretch that well, my thighs/hammies are still sore right now

Osgood can hold it together in the regular season up to a certain extent, but like we've seen in the past it takes a different type of goalie in the playoffs.

My point is with Osgood as #1 starter, we're out first or second round tops.

Period.

I would be shocked to see him as the starter next year. If we thought he was good enough this year, we wouldn't have gotten Hasek. Enough said.

And who was the goalie during the 98 Cup win? Oh that's right, Osgood. :P

Osgood is not as bad as many seem to think. In fact, not many here (except the diehard Osgood fans) really have any confidence in Osgood. While I am not the first to admit that Osgood is not the greatest goalie in the world, he's not chopped liver either.

We'll wait and see what happens. Just play out the situation for now.

LOL.

Some of you are hilarious. OH how HORRIBLE it would be to have a goaltender play in the post season that has won over 300 games, has one of the best winning percentages, won trophies, been to all star games, and won a Cup. OH THE NIGHTMARE THAT WOULD BE! Get real.

You can say what you want about Oz, but guess when he plays his best? Oh yeah..that's right, the playoffs!

Without being overly dramatic about it, do we seriously think if Hasek is healthy (i.e., breathing) that Ozzie will see any more action in a playoff game than Legace did in 2002?

That's the point everyone is nervous about. If Hasek has a groin pull, he'll still be breathing, but he won't be playing.

Something worth noting:

Only once in his Wings career has Osgood had a losing record in the postseason. That, as has been discussed on here, was largely a result of Yzerman and Shanahan being injured.

As far as career stats are concerned, Osgood's stats improve more than Hasek's do going into the postseason.

Just for those who say Osgood will choke it away i nthe playoffs.

Gee, I wonder why that is.

Anyways, I hope Dom takes as much time as he needs to heal this up, even if it means sitting out more than two games. Ozzie's more than capable of holding the fort until he come back.
