i think that eklund just reads multiple team forums and makes up rumors that way. Someone stated the exact same thing that eklund posted on this forum about a month ago. Everyone knows that dats would love to play with ovechkin. But is that worth winning 30-35 games a year for the rest of your career? i dont think it is. If Dats doesnt sign here im thinking he might sign with a team that actually has a chance to do something in the near future.

I think Eklund has been correct about 1% of the time.

He's the "anonymous blogger" because he would be subject to intense ridicule were his true identity known.

Unfortunately, anything is a possibility. Nobody can say with any certainty that he is a wing for life. Smyth comes to mind. However, while he may want to play with Ovechkin, who doesn't? It could be taken out of context, more of a I wish he was on our team type statement that was twisted for the sake of throwing somethng out to debate. Possible: Yes. Likely: No.

Are you sure it's been as much as 1%?

I'd actually say he's been right about 0.3% of the time. :P

I think everyone thinks that Washington is the place he will end up.

If he does I will be livid. Especally because I wanted to trade him there for Semin before the season started.

He better come back or I will have a new most hated player.

I could say the exact same thing and post it on a website if I wanted. It would probably be just as accurate as Eklund.

EDIT: I don't want to see Datsyuk leave though

if he wants more the 7 million ... BYE BYE hudler and filppula could replace him for cheaper

max i would re-sign him is 6 million ... unless he has like 15 pts in like 7-8 playoffs game then i would probably go too 6.5

Datsyuk right now is not worth more than 5 mil. If he produces in the playoff big time this year then he will be worth more. And the fact someone mentioned that Datsyuk would go to a different team is very funny beacuse the Wings are trying to build their team around Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Why the F would Datsyuk move his family, and go to a new city, just to play with a guy he may have good chemistry with, when he could stay in Detroit and cotinue to play with Zetterberg, a guy he absolutely loves playing with right now?

A lot of us are "armchair general managers" but Eklund takes it a step further: "armchair journalism"

he could probably think of over a million reasons.

I believe I heard in a game a couple days ago that Holland planned on resigning him before the playoffs begin. Apparently Datsyuk's agent said they were close to an agreement and Datsyuk was happy with the way things were going. Although I may have misheard this, but I'm fairly confident thats what was said.

I heard that too from the broadcaster on FSN a few games ago. They will work out a deal its just a matter of when are they going to work out a deal. Before or after the playoffs?

Eklunds "source" is actually just a message board he gets ideas from.

Eklund's source is a random number generator.

It runs a number from 1-30 twice, to find two teams that will deal.

Then it runs a number from 1-4 for the number of players involved in the trade. They are divided evenly, with the first team sending the extra player in case of odd number.

Then it generates numbers between 1-98, to decide on players who will be traded by jersey number. If it falls on a number with no player, it rerolls.

If the trade is clearly lopsided, Eklund adds a pick to the team sending the lesser package of players.

Or...if that's not how it works, maybe it should work that way. Might be more accurate than whatever Eklund ACTUALLY does.
