I dunno, though. With our crappy road record this season, I'll take my chances with home ice advantage. :P

Seems to me we had a pretty awesome road record last year, that didnt guarantee us 2 wins in Edmonton. At least thats how I see it. If you play your top game, on what ice surface you play shouldnt matter.

I understand the whole inconclusive thing BUT whether they can see it or now it's a FACT that the puck was in the net because HE was in the net. That's how I see it anyway.

I dont think you guys are getting what I'm saying. If we can logically deduct that the puck is in the net despite not directly seeing it, then "inconclusive" doesn't exist. They changed that rule this year so logically assumed goals should be counted as a goal, which is what Cleary's shot was- a shot we can logically deduct to be a goal. This is an actual nhl rule. Inconclusive isn't (atleast not in this case)

.......and trust me if ryan smyth was here instead of datsyuk he'd score and would have heart , were missing some of that since stevie left .....

Yeah, Smyth'd be the only Wing scoring then, instead of Datsyuk. You picked really poor moment tohate on the only player who is carrying the Wings offensively right now.

it has to be conclusive. this wasn't.

That rule was changed since last season, as long as the refs honestly believe it's a goal they can call it a goal irregardless of it being undeniable fact.

Teh NHL has NO place for your logic sir! Good Day!

do we clinch with this point yet?

We actually clinched with the point last night and Colorado losing in OT. The max points Colorado couldve gotten after their loss was 99. The least we couldve gotten was 100. Its just that the people who run hockey sites (and the league in general) are too big of morons to realize that.

honestly, the last 4 games the Wings have played with 0 intensity. It seems like a completely different team from earlier in the season. What the hell happened?

we have been playing somewhat better with bert around, fighting for pucks, hitting more...good stuff

Maybe because they aren't playing any meaningful games? They show up to Nashville so that they don't lose the division, but the rest of these games don't really have an impact. It is a problem Vancouver has as well.

Apart from the seriously mentally challenged refs, am I the only one thinking this whole SO thing is just total BS? What's wrong with old fashioned ties? We would've earned one point anyway, but we wouldn't have assisted to such a depressing show,,,

I say the same thing--nothing wrong with a tie game, sometimes both teams dont deserve to lose and sometimes both teams dont deserve to win--ties have been in the league from the start in the early 1900's. Todays game Detroit dominated the 3rd and most of the 2nd periods-they did everything but take the lead, they shut St Louis down the last 2 periods and OT BUT, then along comes the shootout and gives the team thats not doing anything but hanging on to their balls, automatic, prime, uncontested scoring chances to win the game---I say thats BULLs*** TO THE MAXXX!!!!!!! :flush: :flush: :flush:

I don't think intensity is the problem at all. I thought from the second period on today they played with passion, and intensity. It's just that the puck isn't going in the net for them. Look how many posts they hit in the last 3 or so games. It's just not going there way right now but things will change soon enough.

Gary Bettman made a statement a few months ago that the NHL's research has shown that fans would rather have their team lose in the shootout than tie.

I keep my own standings. If a game is tied at the end of OT, its a tie. The result of the skills competition is not acknowledged.

Yep, wings were very strong in the 3rd today. If only they could play a full game! Bert was a monster tho, if he keeps playing like that he will be a impact.

I'm not pissed about the shootout. Even if it had been counted a goal, we likely would have lost on the next round with the way Babcock chooses shooters.

Yeah, I think he's just giving the guys coming off of injury every chance to get as much live action as possible to get 'em going. If not, he's dumb because I too would choose other shooters, like Huds, Flip and Dats or something. (although I give him Bert because he's always a good choice regardless!)

peace,

Maybe that is the case. But I still don't feel like seeing Nashville win the division, just for the fact being that I don't want them playing SJ in the first round. Travel won't be as bad as with playing Calgary, but still. Their PP is way too deadly, and I don't want to see a repeat of the regular season games.

Anyways...how much of a BEAST was Bert today? Two games in and he's already playing really well. Imagine what happens when he gets really comfortable out there. He had a ton of hits today and scoring chances, and best of all continually drives to the net. I love him.
