Big games tonight (3/31)/MERGED

well we could have all the 8 teams in place by the end of play today. If the Wild can upset the inform Avs and the Flames can topple the surging Nucks we will know which 8 go into the dance. Its still all to do for Colorado thou as they really need to win their last 5 and hope Calgary get no more than 2 points from their last 5. Could be interesting if both of them win tonight as they still have to face each other twice in the regular season. The Avs have made the post season every year since their move down from Quebec, still there is a first time for everything :D

Finally the truth comes out !

The avs are not a good hockey team

Agreed, my friend has been in denial for the past two weeks about how talented they are and blah blah blah.

He argues back and forth with me that they are going to make the playoffs.

Finally I can rub it in his face, that they are just your average team and nothing special what so ever!

I absolutely confused in if I want the Wings to be in first or fourth place. Do I root for the Preds or Stars tonight?!

Exactly what I was thinking.

Like I sated in a pervious thread, I want to root for the stars, becasue I guess I am spoiled and somewhat selfish and want the wings to win the President's Trophy, but then again its like maybe being the 4th seed would be better off. Its confusing

Yeah, I kind of wish it came out when they had a reason to be hated.

We wouldn't have cared then, thus no rivalry. Let's go with the "good, rivalrific teams" for the win.

Also? President's trophy = nada! It's like being spoiled and greedy for poop. We've had poop many times before, and s*** ourselves the playoffs. I'd like to keep it a little cleaner this time.

It his hard be me to decide what I want here. Do I want Vancouver to lose...YES. Or do I want Calgary to be limping into the playoffs (not hot) in the event we have to play them. Well ... both. Dammit. Can both teams lose in this sport, haha.

I'd love to see the Avs get the 8th spot. As long as we have #1. ;)

What better way to get our boys spun up, than to devastate an old rival in the 1st round?

Still, the chances of that happening are about 1 in 30. Avs aren't quite good enough to make up that many points & Calgary isn't quite that bad to drop that many points in this last week.

Well the Avs won, but if the Flames win tonight you can pretty much count the Avs out of the playoffs *even though it won't be official yet* The Avs would have to win their remaining four and the Flames would have to lose their last four.

The more I think about it we must want to get first. We are so good at home that being in 4th would not benefit us at all. Regardless of what we think as fans of the Wings I don't think anyone believes that we are a favourite to win the cup whether we finish 1st or 4th. Everyone is drooling over Ana, SJ, Van & Nash.

It's almost like going out in the 0th round, basically. And this is definitely a mini-playoffs between the two: points-wise, but they also have two games remaining against eachother in the last five-four.

Calgary's game schedule? Vancouver tonight, San Jose, and Edmonton.

The Avs? Canucks as well, then the Preds. If they beat Calgary twice, win against either Van. or Nash, and the Flames sizzle out on all three of their last performances... they can squeak into the post-season. The most lee-way they've got? Calgary can go, tops, 1/5 on this and the Avs have to pick up all four of theirs.

I honestly don't think Colorado will do it though. You guys put up a good fight this year--but we'll see you again in the fall, my mile high semi-amigos.

Let Buffalo have it. We can still top the West without winning that hunk of bad luck trash.

;)
