BiffFromCP 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) I figure this one to go 6 or 7. I don't think either team is likely to fold. We (Flames) could....but probably won't. That's the enigma with the Flames.....consistency. They play some games, or even stretches of games, like world beaters and look very very tough to play against. Then they play a game, or games, where they look positively ordinary. The wings have consistency in their favor. The physical play is far more even this time around than in '04...but the talent gap is also a whole lot closer. Dats and Hank may give us fits....but you won't like Tangs and Juice (Huselius) much either. This one should be a gooder....unless we get embarassed and spanked in 4. I'll say Flames in 6 with a split in the first two and then a W, W, L, W from there. Edited April 8, 2007 by BiffFromCP

Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) The Flames are a good team BUT, they have one BIG problem to contend with. (See Avatar and Sig for deatails ) Edited April 8, 2007 by Zetter is Better
Firehawk 305 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I'm pretty concerned. Someone said earlier we'd find out how much of an improvement we made about getting dirty and physical and I agree 100% with that. I am very worried though because of their goalie, Kiprosoff. Detroit is going to have to get second chances at him to score. I don't see Kip letting too many first shots in. This should be a nerve-racking series for me. This is about the time I get all stressed out! lol Go Wings baby!

I don't see Kip letting too many first shots in. Normally I would be worried about this too, but we have Datsyuk and Zetterburg who can open the zone up amazingly, and we have three great players who can camp in front of the net and hit in rebounds: Homer Bert and Calder. CrossCheck24 2 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Hope we can see something like this word. I think that we are going to see more of that than any other year. Ive got an exam on Tuesday and Wednesday and I really can't concentrate. I hope babs has them ready to play, I really think it is up to hm to put a good game plan together. My money is on Pavel to have a very good playoffs. I think his big contract is telling him that the Detroit Red Wings organization believes in him, and he will prove them right. The RED WAVE will put out the flames in 5.. Wings win 3 then Flames win game 4 then Wings win game 5 at home on a Zetterberg to Dats goal in the 3rd or OT. LETS GO WINGS
DetroitRockCity13 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I can't wait! Any word at all on when Game One is? Or when the announcement will be made? Oh, and how do you like my sig? First one I ever made
Flip-check 6 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 check this out He looks like a young Stevie Y! Hank was smart to add the beard. Makes him look like he'll beat you up instead of ask you to buy some beer for him. (btw, great sig! But it needs to be 400x100. If only it could be kept as is though )
Chase 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I can't wait! Any word at all on when Game One is? Or when the announcement will be made? Oh, and how do you like my sig? First one I ever made Very nice, but the max size is 400x100. Not be the forum police or anything, but the mods are eventually gonna get ya I say this series goes to seven games. I have a feeling we will have a very tough time winning in Calgary.

Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 This is going to be one very tight series guys. Regular series tied at 2 each with 12 goals for and 12 against!! The difference will be that we could if need be roll 4 lines all night. Not sure that the Flames have the same depth as us. It'll come down to how the coaches match up the lines, can Babs outdo the rookie Playfair? I think he will and I fancy us to nick a win away on the first trip, and the guys that will make the difference will be the unsung guys. I'm going with Cleary Filpulla and Franzen to be the game breakers. LETS GO WINGS!!
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) Alright boys...time to prove this season is gonna be different. We have to show the will to drive to the net and get ugly rebound goals. This is the time of the year when Bobby Lang makes us forgive him. This is when genius that is Nicklas Lidstrom makes the opposing forwards his *****. This is when Henrik Zetterberg comes back from injury and shines. Todd Bertuzzi is here to lay some people out and create room for the wizardry of Pavel Datsyuk. And oh yes, we have Dominik Hasek, who has had one playoff year with the Wings, and one cup. This is the time when we make the league respect us again. Edited April 8, 2007 by Hockeytown Red Wings

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Well, here's hoping that the Flames still struggle on the road on this upcoming series. Will I be shocked if the Wings get eliminated early? No. Past recent history has shown that it is possible unfortunately, and every team from seed 1-8 in the Western Conference is extremely capable of making a deep run, without the hot goaltending theme. When was the last time we've seen so many teams have more than 100 points? Goofy OT loss rule or not, that's impressive. Will I be shocked though if the Wings advance? Of course not. That's their job, and we know what this team is capable of. Still not the most physical or gritty team out there, but it's definitely improved this season, especially at the trade deadline. I like the Wings roster right now, a good, fairly even balance of skill/offense, team defense, and some physical play IMO. I'm going to go with the extremely optimistic half-glass full view. The Flames will continue to struggle on the road with the Wings winning the first two games at home, and the Wings stealing game 4 on the road, and finishing off the series in game 5 winning the series 4 games to 1. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 If i'm a betting man, I say Redwings take this one in 5 games.. Calgary is a bad team... Calgary a bad team? More offense than the last time the played the Wings, and still probably can be as physical, and with the same goalie who is pretty solid last time a checked. I find them being a bad team highly unlikely.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 That doesn't mean a lot since Iginla, Langkow, and Friesen are the forwards not dressed tonight. Once the playoffs start he'll probably take a seat.

He's been injured since boxing day, so its somewhat significant that he's playing a game now. If he wasn't going to play in the playoffs, they wouldnt be using him in this last game.
