Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Attendance 19,204 at Joe Louis Arena Ouch!. I guess I would take 19,204 die-hard fans there than the 20,000+ corporate people who just go to socialize... still sucks it wasn't a sell out.
isbister 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Looked like The Flames got a bit restless and figured since we can't beat em lets try to rough em up. Oh well, Great opener now we got to keep that same intensity.
Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Attendance 19,204 at Joe Louis Arena Pretty close, didn't fall short by that much. I thought it would be worse than that, but I'll take it. Now that the wings won tonight, expect the sunday's game to sellout.
evilmrt 636 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I hate to put a damper on what should be a nice night, but the fact that The Joe wasn't sold out tonight is a incredibly sad. says who? wheres the confirmation of this?
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Lazy and Sucks better start contributing. His line didn't really seem to get a whole lot going. When Bert gets back, I'd like to see him put with Calder and Lang.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Attendance 19,204 at Joe Louis Arena Not surprised. I'm sure game 2 will be a sellout after tonight though. And Wings_Rule_1010, I'm guessing there were plenty of corporate fans there, since they're a lot more likely to be able to afford the jacked up playoff prices. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) I think I explained why. It's the same thing, over and over. Oh, if Hasek got the shutout people just would've said how he didn't have to work hard to get it. Dom didn't lose sight of the puck he was just looking to make sure Iggy wasn't going to run him. Dom didn't get enough credit for this... or that... Ozzy has nothing to do with this. Some of that definitely goes on, but Ozzy is the backup, so I don't have to wade through that every single GDT like I do Dom. Look, I don't want to drag this thread off topic. Next GDT if I get sick of it, I'll just put you on ignore. OK! Or, if it's easier, just scroll past what I say and don't read it. savaking72 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 They get it from their captain. Biggest crybaby in hockey. I hope when Bert is back in he will put Iginla in his place. Iginla is twice the size of Datsyuk and Z. He has no shame.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Lazy and Sucks better start contributing. One assist, definitely didn't hurt us out there. Hustled a bit and threw a nice check. I'll take it.

And Wings_Rule_1010, I'm guessing there were plenty of corporate fans there, since they're a lot more likely to be able to afford the jacked up playoff prices. True. But didn't like 2500 season ticket holders not get playoff tickets. Anyways, at least the lower bowl looked packed, compared to the regular season.

How much did ticket prices go up this year?
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Definitely. It's pathetic. And with five minutes left and the score 4-1, the lower bowl was half empty. I realize that's par for the course at The Joe in the regular season, but it really shouldn't happen in the playoffs.
sibiriak 84 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) Their loss. I have a feeling that the Sunday game is going to be sold out after tonight's resounding win. Th Wings need to continue their amazing team movement in game 2. Because Calgary is bound to play better. They could hardly play any worse. RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 It amazes me the lengths people will go to in order to spin things. The Detroit Red Wings failed to sell out a playoff game tonight. Take that in. It's shocking.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) How much did ticket prices go up this year? A ton. Aren't tickets like $100? They forced season ticket holders to purchase whole rounds all the way up to the Stanley Cup Finals. That's thousands of dollars on their credit cards. rivieraillusions 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I couldn't post during the game as I was just too damned into it, but all I have to say is damn, what an ass-kicking. We dominated them in every facet of the game. Without Kipper, it would have been a white-wash. I also liked how we came out hitting and handled their physicality. After this game, I like our chances, especially with Bert coming back into the lineup.
GiantRobot 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Ummmm, no. Going after Hank and Dats is goonery and is *****-like. Absolutely. If thats what Calgary has to offer, then not only are they in trouble, but they should be ashamed of themselves. Detroit Markov's dive will go down as one of my favorite playoff moves ever! Pavel finally took control of a game, and honestly, could have had a hat trick... Z didnt score, but damn was he on fire. Think he's hungry? Good for Flip and Hudler.... Nice job to the whole team. Calgary Brad Stuart's goals was awesome! Iginla and Phaneuf might as well have stayed at home. They push people well, and also try to start fights really well. Nice job. Kipper was the only one on that team that didnt look like they were straight out of "Night of the living dead." I expect fire from Calgary on Sunday, but then again, I expected that tonight. rwfan007 18 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 i have a few reasons why this wasn't a sellout... 1: its a thursday 2: tickets are very very expensive 3: people don't want to go to a playoff game if we don't win that being said, after this game the rest will be sold out now that people see that we are really capable of doing some things this year
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I can't believe we're still talking about attendance when everyone knows what kind of economy we have right now in our city/state.19,000 isn't enough?? I mean seriously DO NOT compare us to CALGARY,EDMONTON,VANCOUVER ETC,HOCKEY IS ALL THEY HAVE!!!! They are going to sell out.The attendance doesn't bother me,it's game 1 for God's sake. That's thousands of dollars on their credit cards. Yeah, requiring people to shell out all the way to the Finals is a bit ridiculous. that's an awful lot of money to tie up. Of course, if they didn't, they'd probably get all sorts of grief about how they don't believe in the Wings because they didn't sell tickets to the cup finals. cgyfireman 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I'm not sure if you guys were thatgood or we were that bad. Very disappointed in the Flames tonight. this has been a Jekyl and Hyde team all year....hopefully Hyde shows up Sunday.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 True. But didn't like 2500 season ticket holders not get playoff tickets. Anyways, at least the lower bowl looked packed, compared to the regular season. True, but I'd guess its more likely that the majority of people who declined playoff tickets were individuals, instead of corporations. Everyone keep this non-sellout in mind when they're about to make fun of Preds fans. Or make fun of someone for being a bandwagon fan. Man, I can't believe it wasn't a sellout. How much did ticket prices go up this year? Why would anyone make fun of Preds fans. Everyone knows we don't have a rivalry with them... I think the cheapest ticket was $63 which was probably top of the upper bowl. Not sure what lower bowl seats are.
