arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Yeah, I have known Iggy since his days in Kamloops. He is a class act guy. One of the nicest people I can say I have ever met. And he is aware that he has been put in a good position and has been fortunate, and he doesn't keep it all for himself, very giving, down to earth person. On the ice, he is a competator. Bottom line. I'll admit, even I got a little edgey the other day when he was pushing Dats after the whistle. I was like, 'come-on, are you honestly going to try to fight Pavs!?!" If Iggy were wearing our jersey, I would be a happy man. And yes, Love having the flames fans around. Just nice to have that opinion for some good old-fashioned discussion. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Other than one Flame nutball troll, every Flame fan in here has been a good one, and there's been a fair amount of them for this series so far. We're enjoying y'all, always welcome here. :beerbuddy:

Zion 93 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I'd love to have Jerome Iginla on the Red Wings. I hate that he went after Zetterberg and Datsyuk like that at the end of the game. I also hate that we have few to no Red Wings with that kind of passion and hatred for losing. Good stuff.
Guest tangstoiggy Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Blah, blah, blah. Do what you want off the ice. Taking off Z's head in the waning minutes of a losing game still makes you an *******. He needs to quit trying to "send a message" when he's losing. Do it on the scoreboard or give it up. He's got too much talent for that crap. Blah, blah, blah, back at ya....do you not think he was maybe setting the tone for game 2....Thats what he does and is usually works.
Guest tangstoiggy Report post Posted April 15, 2007 OK I have one complaint about this topci Could you Please spell its CALGARY not CALAGRY

It's an old, old message and obviously one the team didn't receive, looking at the score. Sloppy play by Calgary in the first. What's Iggy going to do now? Oddzilla51 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Despite what some may think of Iggy, they'd love to have him on their team. He's an awesome player. But he's got to get his team together for game 3. The Flames are a dangerous team, but they need to play smarter and help Kipper out a bit more. And also, the Wings have been doing a great job of putting that old "The Wings aren't tough" talk to bed. They've certainly been very physical in this series so far. Babcock needs to keep them moptivated and keep doing that. The Wings, so far, have been playing much smarter than the Flames. If Calagry ( Couldn't resist) get's their heads screwed on straight it could turn out to be a much different series. They have the talent.

akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Iggy is great, he just needs to control his nerves more because he becomes an easy target for the zebras in those 3rd periods. having said that, he needs some support from teammates to not be the only one Flame with heart and desire to win. which leads him to frustration and dumb penalties

You will see a totally different Flames team at home on Tuesday. As Regehr is out again, due to the hit by Draper.....thank you very much Draper, knew Regehr was playing with a bad knee and deliberatly went after him....I don;t like when players knowingly do that. As Regehr is out again, due to the hit by Draper.....thank you very much Draper, knew Regehr was playing with a bad knee and deliberatly went after him....I don;t like when players knowingly do that. Well, Ville Niminnen deliberatly went into Curtis Joseph in Game 4 of the 2004 series between the two teams. Joseph didn't have an injury bug but Niminnen didn't do squat to avoid him. Did you not like Niminnen then during his Flame days?

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I'd like to see the hit in question... It may have been a nothing collision, because I don't even remember it. Game was all but in hand, Wings were winning the game 4-2 (and won 4-2), it was late with probably no more than a minute left, I think CuJo froze the puck, whistle, and Ville came charging in probably at least 2-3 seconds after the whistle blew at full speed. He could've easily hit the breaks for a minimal/no collision.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 No no, I remember old Ville's antics, how could anyone ever forget? I meant Draper's hit on Regehr.

Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 I think Iginla is an awesome player, and as far as I can tell, a nice man. However, I hate how he insists all the Flames need to do is play physical, and they will beat the Wings. The whole "lack of physicality" idea about the Wings angers me, because I feel Detroit can hang with almost any team physically
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 (edited) I say let he tell his team to try to be physical... the more physical they are the less they play hockey and the more we dominate Edited April 16, 2007 by OsGOD

The whole "lack of physicality" idea about the Wings angers me, because I feel Detroit can hang with almost any team physically I'd love to share your optimism here. however, after seeing how teams like Philly or Sharks fared against us, I'm far from being positive here. we hold our own against Flames because they lack discipline. but against a team that makes it really rough and plays on the edge of rules (or refs "move" the edge) we're pretty f*d IMHO. we're gonna suffer if we meet a team that plays really tough game. it's playoffs and zebras tend to swallow their whistles. and with clear advantage in physical department, other teams will have a lot of success in neutralizing our forwards. not even to mention this is best-of-seven, which means we'd have to play "bullies" on a number of games. this would veery much wear Wings down. hate to be an ass, but I don't see our physicality as an advantage. so far in Flames series we showed intensity, good jump and quite tough play. but if we advance to next round and face a team like Sharks, it's gonna be much worse and we'll need a lot of discipline and good penalty drawing to stay at our game and not get banged
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted April 16, 2007 You will see a totally different Flames team at home on Tuesday. As Regehr is out again, due to the hit by Draper.....thank you very much Draper, knew Regehr was playing with a bad knee and deliberatly went after him....I don;t like when players knowingly do that. Draper, all 5-10, like 190 of him finished his check on Regehr who is about twice as big. It was up against the boards and wasn't even a hard hit. The replay showed it clearly, Drapes went in and finished Regerh after he passed the puck. The unfortunate thing was it was either Drapers butt or his thigh, I don't remember which but Regehr's left leg was out in front of him as he was along the right side boards and his knee was the first thing that Draper came into contact with. There was no penalty, no intent to injure, nothing. It was just one of those flukey hits where you get your knee whacked a bit. Once in college this enormous guy came at me for hitting one of his teammates earlier, I saw him coming, braced for the hit but his knee came in and caught the side of my right knee and put me straight down. I couldn't feel my leg for like 5 minutes. It was just one of those freaky contact injuries. That's all that happened to Regehr. Problem is Robyn has a bum knee to begin with so this couldn't have helped the situation. To insinuate that Kris Draper of all people tried to intentionally go after Regehr's knee prove you to be a complete dumbFu**. Go back to your own board until you can get some clarity and observe the game objectively.

IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 I am new here but I gotta say... The only reason these Goon fans are being nice is becuase their team is not fairing so well. After each game they say wait till Iggy comes back on Sunday. Or wait till Iggy gets home on Tuesday. Well I will keep on waiting. Igs is good. Great, not quite. Skill level yes he is great. Well Iggy is a scrub in my book. I don't give a doodoo what he does off the ice. I won't hang with him and I don't know him anywhere but on the ice. He is a glorified goon. Okay you all continue with your Calgary love fest. I wonder if ya'll would be so "loving" if we lose tuesday. God Forbid.
Inultus 12 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 I don't mind Iginla for the most part, I'd rather have him than Bertuzzi, but we have Bert and I hope he plays tomorrow.
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 while i choose to disagree about him being an *******, i would echo your sentimenets about the majority of fans on this board. LGW seems to be one of the best collection of hockey minds on the internet. Hopefully the discussion between us will continue to be civil. While I agree that the Calgary fans have been pleasant this year, what else are they going to say? When Calgary beat Detroit a couple of years ago, there was a far different tone on this site- Trolls don't come out to play when their team is being beaten into a bloody pulp. I'mjust sayin...
