DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Cleary and Draper might have been the only two Red Wings that played without a doubt well. Cleary has been showing us that even without scoring he is going to get involved. I loved seeing that from Cleary. 1) Our powerplay is horrible. We had a 4 min powerplay and we had maybe 1 or 2 shots. That also happened again when we had a power play in the 3rd. 2) Stay out of the box. It's the only thing that is letting Calgary survive in this series. Let them score 5 v 5 because they haven't proved they can yet. 3)Take the fans out of the game. Lets Go Wings! Airborn 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Kiprusoff should have gotten a penalty on that so-called goalie interference on Calder, and people jump on Dom for embellishment. That was so awful, and yet somehow I knew it was going to get called sooner or later, the way he's been flopping to the ice in the first few games. Someone should really run over him, see how he likes it then. Somehow, I think the press will develop as case of amnesia.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Agreed about the refs. Pathetic. No it wasn't the main reason the Wings lost, but it sure as hell had a lot to do with it. The couple calls on Markov and the one on Calder were absolutely PATHETIC! And don't even get me started on how much they grabbed, hooked, and held the Wings and got nothing for it. Especially that trip on Hank before Iggy scored the winner. That being said, Wings in 5. I am not worried for a lot reasons, the main being that the Wings played really good tonight especially for being out on the road and in the so called 'hostile' enviornment. It's not like the Wings were outplayed either, they both played really well. Wow is Dan Cleary amazing or what?! I expect Dom to come out in Game 4 and absolutely shut down the Flames especially for that goal he let in on Iginla. We all know he's pissed about it and we all know that he always bounces back with a win. Anyways, if anything the Wings need to really work on their PK. Other than that they are good to go. And for the love of GOD, take out Sammy and put in Huds. Also, Lilja, Cleary, Maltby, and Drapes all played fantastic tonight. GO WINGS!!!!!! 2) Stay out of the box. It's the only thing that is letting Calgary survive in this series. Let them score 5 v 5 because they haven't proved they can yet. That's exactly it. Staying out of the box is key. Although some of the calls were absolutely pathetic. Anyways..Calgary can't score on even strength for the life of them. The Wings are still playing great hockey, they just needed to stay out of the box and they would of won, easily.

If we're going to win game 4, we need a whole lot more from the top 2 lines, and we need to be better on special teams.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Re-posted for your (my?) benefit: Ugh. That was brutal to watch. The Wings had everything going their way to start the third, Dano had just made the play of the year... and then the collapse. Ye gods, it was unbearable. As I pick myself up and dust myself off, the Wings will need to do the same. They blew this one (so did the refs) but tomorrow is a new day and Thursday is a new game. They still have a chance to put the stranglehold on this series. Pavel and Hank need to be better. I expect Hasek to bounce back after letting in a softie GWG. Lang will continue to be terrible, as will Sammy (who will play because Mike's a tard).
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 The only thing the Wings need to change (other than special teams) is getting Samuelsson off the ice and into the press box. Put Hudler out there for heavens sake!
Saran 1 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Is it just my computer or is this website slow? Just wondering. nope its just slow, after playoff games lots of people come to the site so it lags lots
Airborn 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 And for the love of GOD, take out Sammy and put in Huds. QFT One of these days Sammy is going to score from the corner, making us all look foolish. Until that day, can we please play Hudler.
tazzer82 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Staying out of the penalty box sounds good and all, but when you have the refs(or in this case) McCreary making bulls*** calls whenever there's a Wings player anywhere even near a Flames player, it's kind of hard to avoid. Let's just all hope for the Wings sake in the next game that McCreary is not one of the refs.
Copenhagen848 58 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) I just can't believe the amount of ice time that Lang and Sammy get....it's even more bothersome than the ******* with the airhorn. Edited April 18, 2007 by Copenhagen848
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 I take comfort in the fact that the Wings didn't play that well and hardly lost. It wasn't like we played awesome and still lost. Then I would be slightly worried. They will come back in game four and play with a vengence.

zetterbergfuturemvp 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) LOL im watching nhl network and these comments praising the flames are hilarious man.....only thing they said about the wings was that they still played physically vs the flames .......i guess thats the one plus on the game , we didnt let calgary physically dominate us Edited April 18, 2007 by zetterbergfuturemvp
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 LOL im watching nhl network and these comments praising the flames are hilarious man The funny thing is that the flames didn't play that well. They were the benificiaries(sp) of some turnovers and bad calls.

Christopher Tequila 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 I'm not going to say that Bert was the reason we lost, but what did he do tonight to make us so anxious to get him back in there? Like I said before, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You had hungry young guys that would do anything to help win the game. Instead we try to get this veteran player who has played very little hockey in the last year to come in and make a team that is up 2-0 and make them a better team. As far as the Lids turnover, it happens. He tried to make a pass that didn't work, maybe he should have just cleared it, but it is hard to criticize Lids for a mistake because he makes so few. Right now it is just realizing if the Wings keep there heads this series is theirs. If the Flames can't do anything for the first two games and then need to be home with screaming fans before they can muster up the guts to play professional hockey, the Wings can surely muster up the balls to take game 4. Even if the Flames ride the fans for the next one, if they can't win on the road they are not going to go far in these playoffs!

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 markov was our best player out there tonight, aside from the obvious cleary and draper Sure was. And he was by far the best defensemen. Although i will give props to lilja. He didn't play too bad either.
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 I understles frustration with guys like Bert. Sure I want him to play circa-02', and hopefully it is still to come. But the fact is he has the ideal combination of everything you want in a hockey player. You dont have a guy like him on the roster and not play him. We traded for him at the deadline (yes for very little ... i'm aware) for this very purpose. It is frustrating for fans, and I'm sure for Rex too, after having some quality games to be the odd man out. I don't think this season there is any chance of Babs puttin' Sammy aside for him ... But the point remains, if Bert can play, he is in! Sure was. And he was by far the best defensemen. Although i will give props to lilja. He didn't play too bad either. Haha, i nearly crapped myself in the first when the announcers screamed, What an Interception by Lilja!!! I was like, are you sure? It didnt deflect in? But yeah, good on him, he did have a decently solid outing.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Indeed the Lilja bashing has become almost non-existent since his fight with Travis Moen.....
Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 Honestly if I'm mad at one person it's Babs for not having the guts to sit Sammy and put in Huds. Those lines were really clicking before... Would Huddles have been the difference? I don't know...maybe not, but I'm still really annoyed with the decision. Cleary was awesome again tonight...I loved to see him do that huge hit on Phaneuf...man that guy annoys me. Dom is being a bit complained about but I really thought he kept us in it early when no one else was really doing anything. He didn't do that bad actually for a loss, and it's not as if he'll fall apart...probably come back stronger next game. Hank - to me does not look 100%. Everyone keeps saying how great he's playing but he doesn't seem to be dominating the way he used to before the injury. I dunno. Bert - I love him...I love him beating the crap out of people against the boards..however, I don't think he's 100% either. He's not doing as well as I think he could be. Draper - 2 goals what can I say...and almost a third. Lots of hard work by him tonight! But it is nice to see different people stepping up and scoring each day...even if we didn't win... SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) The refs called this game, plain and simple. I don't like to make excuses for a loss, but please, if you don't see this, than you are either blind or a Calgary fan. How many calls did the Flames get from the start of the second to the end? What like 5 or 6? We got one powerplay? If the refs would open their eyes and not call tripping penalties on Markov (which he never once tripped a guy, his stick was never near their feet and they just fell over) and Calder for goalie interference (yeah, worst call by far too) than this game would have been a little different. I'm not saying we would have won, but at the least it would have gone to OT. Their second goal was scored after a bogus call... so please explain how the refs didn't call the game? Sorry, I'm just furious at the officiating tonight, it really did determine the outcome of the game. Wings will take game 4, i'm fully confident. GO RED WINGS! FromItaly 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 :nonono: That sucks.... I never thought we would sweep them, and this game was the most likely one to lose, but it's the way it happened that disgusts me. I've been watching hockey (NHL and European) for 15 years, and I'd never seen such disastrous officiating, not even here in Italy. Congrats to Calgary for the W and the good effort, but I think it's in the interest on both teams (and all their fans) that officiating be at least on a decency level. We're talking about NHL Playoffs, damned! It's only one game, and I'm still optimistic about this series, but it kinda sucks to get up at 4 o'clock in the morning to watch a hockey game and realize after two hours that you're actually watching a different sport you don't know the rules of.
