Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6

more whining here then the entire state of Caliornia..

But not as much as the Calgary Puck forums yesterday :P

Seriously, this is just a lot of passion, and the way it should be. We are all being fans. With that said, a certain amount of objectivity is necessary.

The suspension seems right, and the fines seem right. Playfair sent his guys out to goon it up at the end, that was clear. While I didn't like what Langkow did, The hipcheck Lebda laid on him wasn't entirely clean either. That's hockey.

Tonight ought to be a dandy.

Honestly I'm surprised the fines to Playfair and the Flames were that large. They're appropriate in my opinion, but I assumed the NHL would let them off.

Otherwise seems about right. Igoonla is a clown, but didn't really cross the line enough to warrant a suspension.

The only beef I have is with Langkow getting nothing for the suckerpunch and choking of Lebda.

Well said

If you're going to insult us, at least spell the name of the state properly.

I'm going to be very brash on this one: You Flames fans are complaining even more than we are. At Calgary Puck, you guys are saying Wings players should be suspended for any sort of physical play at all. I'm sorry the Wings aren't a bunch of Euro ******* like you guys would have hoped coming into this series, but tough s***. Call us whiners? Go on your own teams forums and just glance at some of the bulls*** that is going on over there. I dare you to do it. But it won't matter, because all Flames fans are such ridiculous homers that you won't see anything from it. Assholes.

no kidding.

the flames have done nothing but cry about us running their goaltender. In desperation they even used a two second clip of draper to claim he was headhunting.

their team and their fans are acting like a bunch of whiny b*tches. Learn to lose like men.

The best part of this entire series so far is that the Flames had a gameplan coming into this series - to be physical and to run Hasek - and to the Flames, it was a smart gameplan. Now that the Wings have stolen the Flames own gameplan from them and used it to go up 3-2 in the series, its "goonery."

Suck it up, little *******. If you guys were doing what the Wings are it would be "playoff hockey" and "a good gameplan."

I couldn't care less about Mclennan. he's an ******* for doing what he did, but like many have said, and franzen said, he's not even a factor, wouldn't have played anyway. What really pisses me off though is how lebda throws a LEGAL check on langkow, and he comes back and sucker punches him when he's down, concussing him, so that he misses the next game. bulls***. plain and simple.

why is it that most of the league (including most of Canadian fans too) is calling Flames a disgrace, but their own fans seem to only see how Wings crashed Kipprusoff (obviously, never being pushed) and chepshotted Flames players. and obviously, what their team did in final minutes was just "sending a message".

get f* real and take your homeric glasses off for a while!

Man alive. I honestly can't believe you guys are such homers that you don't feel that punch, at the very least, should have gotten a penalty or anything. Langkow didn't get s***, despite the fact that his punch caused Lebda to get a concussion. Ridiculous.

Fixed

I agree he should have gotten a penalty. Just because I don't think he should have gotten a suspension doesn't mean I don't think he should have gotten a penalty. There is no way the ref's saw the punch. If they did he would have gotten a penalty for sure. I think if he had gotten a penalty no one here would be calling for a suspension. The non-call just makes it much worse for you guys.

You know, I can understand Flame fans coming on here and defending their team and contributing to these forums, but when someone comes on and starts insulting, it just gets ridiculous. If you don't have anything to contribute to these forums, I suggest you leave or the mods will do it for you.

How could they have seen the clip but not see the punch that happened immediately after it? that's what I don't get.

Did they get distracted by something shiny right after the hit?

Well said. Burninator is actually adding to the forums. I disagree with him, but he is adding. :)

CrispyFlames? Nope. Not adding anything.

Actually yes, there was a scrum going on at mid-ice. Langfag saw this opportunity and exploited it.

I don't know how they missed it, but they did. The punch did happen what, like 5 seconds after the hit? Their attention must been drawn else where. There is no way a ref would let that go.

If you are suggesting that the refs are favouring Calgary so much so as to the extent to allow this punch, you are not being fair in any way because the Flames didn't get away with things that were half as bad during the whole game.

Yeah, I mean I can't imagine in a million years that any ref would ignore a blatent punch like that. So, they just must have somehow missed it.

I agree with what is said here.

But the point is that Langkow knew what he was doing and did it because he knew the refs weren't looking. Doesn't that deserve a suspension?

Disagree? Maybe I can change your mind then? ...probably not. haha

Calgary puck is a zoo right now too, I am trying to stay away this afternoon. We are getting lots of trolls too. Best way to deal with them is to not respond. Let the mods handle them. Vigilantly thread justice = a clogged up thread.
