stellargirl21 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2007 Do yourself a favor - get a DVR! It's one of the best investments I ever made! Yeah but by the time I get home from work the next day I've already heard the score and whatnot. I can stay up and watch the games as long as it doesn't go into OT
redwings4life 3 Report post Posted April 24, 2007 What really sucks if the Wings beat San Jose...they have to play another Pacific time team in either Anaheim or Vancouver. Can't win. If the Wings make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, it will be so great to watch a game end BEFORE 10:00 p.m. on a work night. God help us if a 10:00 p.m. game in San Jose goes into double or triple overtime. For revenge purposes, the league should start Red Wings home games at 11:00 a.m. on weekends so the Sharks/Ducks/Canucks fans have to get their asses out of bed by the 8:00 a.m. for opening face-off. Muuah...hah hah hah hah. Hmmmm...coffee, bagel, eggs and hockey; nothing like it. Exactly what the NHL should do Wings games that start at 1 pm for them will start at 10 A.M. so you kind of get justice but not much
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Do yourself a favor - get a DVR! It's one of the best investments I ever made! Either that or take a nap in the afternoon. LOL no DVR for me (yet). And I have a run-of-the mill office job where I stare at this laptop for about 9 hours of the day. Hell, at least it's better than the dude who always says "YES" to the Nextel guy over the phone after he asks the famous question...."Can you here me now?" And after work 99.9% of the time I go straight to exercising. So sleep during the day/early evening is out of the question.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 I feel the same way. You drag you ass into work and plop down at your desk and someone says, "Wow! What's wrong with you? Late night?" And right before you tell them to stop talking so ******* loud, you look up and say "I'm a Wings fan, and Franzen is awesome." with a smile on your face and bright, red eyes. See, I have the same problem here in Jersey, except after I tell them I was up late watching hockey, they say something like, "Oh, hockey's still going on?" Seems to take away some of the shine off that badge of honor.

GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 (edited) I would watch the Red Wings anytime or anyplace, regardless of the circumstances or future consequences. I can go to work or school anytime, but how many chances in a lifetime can you watch your team have a legit chance at winning it all? Go Wings! edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 For real about the DVR...Changes your life! But, sadly, I can't DVR a late game to watch the next day, because there is no way I could avoid the media the next day without finding out the results of the game. Hence, I must stay up and watch the game live (or at least the DVR way of live by buffering up for an hour to get through the comercials)...GO WINGS! Yeah, I'd DVR it too...but I'd end up spoiling myself before ever getting a chance to actually WATCH the thing. Besides, I wouldn't get to enjoy the GDT if I DVRed it. Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 I can stay up, but I'm missing a game due to the fact that I will be working through the STUPID DAY GAME. UGH. I can't get out of it either. Also, my graduation falls on the day of a game.

vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Disagree. Would MUCH rather stay up till 10 then have a really early game! Staying UP until 10 is not the problem. The game STARTING at 10 is the problem. We're not getting to bed until 1,2 or even 3 in the morning. 7 am comes awfully early under those circumstances. I've got the DVR - but for the flip-side of this coin. Looks like the Thurs game starts at 1:30pm HST.......don't get off work till 4:00! Great for gms 3 & 4 though. 4-sharp. Also those weekend games start @ 9am and 8am here - tough to crack a beer that early, but it is the 2nd rd. aloha

Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 dvr's are awesome, whether hard drive based or disc based, but for sports, eehhhhh, i dunno. i love mine but something about watching the game later just kinda takes away from the feeling of watching it live. it's great if you've got no other way, but if i can see a game live, there's no way i'm missing it. Yeah, for me, there is nothing like watching a goal scored live, I don't care if it happened five minuets ago or five hours ago, it just not the same. Covenant 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Well, we always get stuck playing the teams out east because the rest of the Central sucks, .. and our record was falsely inflated , WOOPS, wrong thread. I hear everyone's pain.. suck it up! Franzen's goal was what, about 12:45am EST? That's nothing, expect many more tight games, and OT too I'm thinking. I love the Saturday afternoon games @ 3pm, can get up early (depending on Friday night), do a bunch of stuff around the house, get geeked/"lubed up" with Labbatt by the time the puck drops .. chow down dinner @ 6pm or so (again, fueled by mass beer consumption), and tell anyone you might have invited over to get the f*** OUT by 7pm! Makes for a great Sunday, as I'm usually crashed out by 10pm or so. Adrenaline/Beer/Playoff Hockey, not many better combinations in life.
