krudmonk v2.0 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 WTF is that supposed to mean? The quality of the fan is NOT determined by their ability to shell out money to see games. My cable provider (WOW) doesn't include VS in their basic cable package. I can't afford the extra bread to go with digital cable, so does that mean I'm not a true fan in Detroit??? Give me a break. Haha, I wasn't talking about seeing it live. I was making light of all the Wings fans in California, Colorado, Nashville, Indonesia, Mars, etc. But I only assumed that those in the region could watch a local broadcast. If that's not the case, then I apologize.
kylee 727 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Looks like I'm gonna be stuck with Sopcast, even though any major sports league shouldn't cause fans to have to go this far. Sad. very, very true. i actually like the versus coverage ive seen on the NHL, i just dont have the channel X 4534564365

If that's not the case, then I apologize. No, it's not the case. Comcast owns VS, so I'm sure that they charge a premium for other cable providers to have VS in their line-up. I hate Comcast, so I have WOW instead. Sorry if I came off kinda harsh on you about it, but it really has my blood boiling that a playoff game isn't available on basic cable. Thank god WOW cable offers it. Only if you have digital cable, they don't have it with their basic package.
Seraph 240 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 I thought this would be a good opportunity to ask. Who knows a lot about sopcast? I downloaded it a while back to watch games and after a day I got an email from my college saying I was wayyyy over my bandwidth limit. I uninstalled sopcast and there were no more problems other than the $40 bill I got for overusage. Anyone know what the deal was with that? I'm assuming it's based on how the program runs, but is there a way for me to have it and not kill my wallet? Turn off whatever it's doing?

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Will Sopcast work on a Mac? No idea. You could jump on it right now and see if you can play Canucks-Ducks.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Sopcast doesn't appear to work with Mac's, if anybody was interested. Is anybody aware of any other way to watch the game that might be Mac accessible? Sopcast doesn't appear to work with Mac's, if anybody was interested. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 I have the opposite question: by exclusive coverage, I assume that means for those particular games Versus is the only station showing the game. So for everyone out of the Detroit market, I am assuming the ones on FSD are ALSO on Versus. I believe this was the case in round 1? That is completely ridiculous that every single game is not shown on the local stations - wtf? THe NHL needs to get its act together and get a real tv contract. Try some kind of emulator to run windows on your mac. I am not sure if VMware can be used on macs. check their site out and see. Nic 59 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Basically, some dude (dudes?) hooked his Center Ice up to the Internet. Go here and download the player. Then go here at gametime to watch. You are my SAVIOR. Thank you a million times over! I have Versus, but after Monday I'll be out of town until mid-june, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to watch the games for the rest of the playoffs! Again, THANK YOU!
TK19 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 This is so stupid. And the NHL wonders why they cant get "new" fans. They carry games on a channel that most of the country cant get. Brilliant! So the game isnt gonna be on FSD, i take it? Not even a VS feed or anything? If not im so disappointed in the NFL and VS. right now. I do have that sopcast, but id rather watch it on my tv and not the little ass screen.
VladyIBELIEVE16 257 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 no CBC? wow my dad who lives about an hour south of detroit is going to be pissed. He is pretty cheap and won't add the package that includes versus. Its probably like 3 bucks to have it added. Cancel it when the season's done

pucker4fischer 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 can't detroiters without the VS channel just head to a local bar to watch or something?
Wingsor 2 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) All TSN and all HD, for those lucky enough to have it. I hope everyone can at least watch the game! Go Wings! TSN = great picture quality, but not so hot commentating....unplug center front speaker on 5.1 system and its just like your at the arena without the Toronto Sports Network voices lol Canadian Bell Express VU wont show the games on Versus if it's on CNC or TSN, it's very annoying. I hope Vancouver gets thrashed so I dont have to watch us play them with CBC canuck biased coverage. BTW what has happened to Grapes lately.....he doesnt even make sense at times.... eg last game i watched...in the intermission he tells kids to watch the wings flames game 6, watch iginla and lang score low, keeping the puck on the ice "that's how you do it...shoot low"....then maclean shows the winner by franzen up in the corner...to which Cherry now says "shoot high" maclean looks at him funny and Cherry says "always shoot low, and always shoot high" lol..... OK GRAPES! WHATEVER YOU SAY BUD..... in other words, make sure you get it on net? lol i miss the old grapes who loved the wings, and used to have his red wing suit and the octopus in his hands at the beginning of coach's corner. watch out cherry, the wings are coming, and european or not, we have some tough guys you should love, even if theyre not from canada or the us, LET'S GO RED WINGS. PS finally got some art work put onto my profile....made some logos just for this occasion lol. Gotta figure out how to dump my HD first round games from my ExpressVu PVR onto my computer...I need room for tomorrow nights game! Anyone know how? i hate to lose the beautiful HD rez. I had WOW as well until they pissed me off. I went to Comcast Digital Plus package which costs me like 4 or 5 bucks more than I was paying WOW. The package offers phone, high speed cable internet, and digital cable with HD channels for 117 bucks (woulda been cheaper but i wanted the high def channels). I was payin 113 with WOW for all 3. Same same really. Just an FYI. Get it switched immediately LOL. I dont know if they are still offering the deal or not. It was also guarenteed till 2008, at which time ill call up screaming and get a better deal . Edited April 26, 2007 by Firehawk
