Samuelsson - Time to give the guy some kudos

player love-fest threads for one stinking playoff goal are kinda lame. no kuddos for mikey "high & wide" samuelsson till he shows me something more. bobby lang's equalizer in game 4 definitely gets an "atta-boy", but sammy's pp insurance goal doesn't really impress me. with schnides out, we'll see if sammy can rise to the occasion.

Nobody thinks he is the second coming of Gordie Howe, but the guy gets ridiculed more times in here than the amount of technical fouls Rasheed Wallace has piled up in his career or the amount of kids Michael Jackson has had over to Never Never Land. I think one thread giving him credit or being positive doesn't hurt anybody.

I'll wait to pass on any kudos until the next game to see if he can pick it up or not. He's had one goal, and it took a ton of shots to get it. Honestly, I think switching sides helps with him. The question is, can he do it again, or do I hear 'Samuelsson-shot, and it's wide of the net' over and over. I'm not here to bash him, but I just want to wait and see if he can pick that aspect of his game up. Now, that aside, I have noticed him working a little harder, skating faster, and using the body a little more, the last couple games. Atta boy, Sammy, keep it up.

Had to be one, Hudler had his chance against the sharks, and he got manhandled like a little school boy. I love huddles, but honestly hes too small to be out there against the likes of the san jose lines

And aside from a little physical play, Sammy hasn't done much either. One PP goal after 27 shots isn't exactly success. I already stated that I am pleased with Sammy's physical play so far this series, its his offensive prowess I'd like to see greatly improved (which Hudler has already shown he's capable of in this playoff year).

You can't just give one game as an example of Hudler's overall play. If that was the case, you could rip every single Red Wing for one bad game or another in these playoffs alone.

Edit: Spelling

I hate to break it to you, but Hudler would get eaten alive by San Jose. He would be no more effective than Samulesson.

So why not give Huds the chance? His shot is just as good as Sammy's, and his upside is much better. Give the kid some playoff experience.

Because Hudler would be steamrolled by San Jose with their size. Sorry, but for his own good, Hudler should not play against them.

Righthanded shot > Left handed shot.

Keep Sammy in , he has been playing well , I dont care if he only gets 2 goals on 300 shots the whole playoffs , He's physical and likes to get into other players faces

He did get manhandled in the first 3 games of this series, or did everyone forget that he played in the first 3 games?

Sammy is a much better choice in this series.

I have been a Sammy and Lang support on these boards since I joined.

I have even got into in the chat room with some of you fine folks.

It was a great shot, it was a GRRRRrrreat game and come monday it will be a Grrrreat Series.

Poor Matty, breaking his wrist, that has to suck, atleast he will go down with the series OT goal.

I'll give him some love. I've been keeping a close eye on him since I have questioned why he has been in the lineup. I have to say he has been playing very well and he's just what we need in a series like this.

Just like the entire Red Wing core would be eaten up by the big, strong Sharks?

Come on, seriously. Most of the Wings can at least handle the size of San Jose. Hudler is so small he'd get stepped on.

I'll restate my thoughts again: Hudler would be no more effective than Samulesson. Unless he has someone to go out there and create space for him (no, not Bertuzzi, and that's a whole other subject in its own) he is relativly useless.

Hudler played and did pretty well. I think if the refs would ever make calls it would be okay, but he did get knocked on his booty a few times. I don't think he was ineffective, but the missed calls were rendering him a bit helpless as far as scoring went...no calls while being taken down everytime you go to the net is a little ridiculous.

btw. Samuelsson's done okay too. No problem with him right now at all...I was just saying....

LOL I don't know if anyone besides myself caught this, but they were interviewing Sammy after practice and the lady asked: "You guys have a chance to eliminate the Sharks tonight in Game 6, how do you guys feel going into game 6?" and then Sammy says "Oh we're going to win, for sure." And then she was like "Ooh is that a guarantee?" *Kinda like a Guaransheed* and then he just started laughing.

Hmmmm.. Sammy's feeling good bout tonight! Watch it be him that scores the GWG.

 Hope he keep's his word, I want this series done tonight. :)

If he score's the game winning goal, I'll be happily the first in line to eat some crow. :D

That' true, and very unfortunate, but no matter how you're rendered ineffective, you're ineffective. Tough break for Rex that he wasn't getting the calls, but that doesn't get the Wings anywhere. Sammy's done OK lately. Keep him active for now.

Fine, I'll be the guy that brings down the thread.

I'll give no kudos to Sammy. While he may be playing more physical, I still don't think he's brought anything of real value to the table these playoffs. 1 goal (on the PP no less) on 27 shots, which is 3.7% doesn't deserve any kudos if you ask me.

True, he's helping out in other ways, such as physicality against a big, physical SJ offense, but he's not helping out in the scoring department practically at all.

I'd rather have Hudler out there.

Ummm....You wanna re-think that bro???
