Bye, Robert. I have next to no respect for you, because you don't give your 100% every night despite the millions that you make. Watching you play on a line with a guy like Cleary was just an insult.

Have some respect for yourself.

It was nice to see Lang come here when he did. It's nice to see him leave now. Good luck Bob.

Yikes.

If it weren't for Lang we'd be out in the second round talking about what a disappointing season it was, and that the Wings need to get rid of half the team and start 'rebuilding.' THANKS to Lang the Wings made it to the third round and while not winning the Cup are looked at as having a great season regardless.

Thank you, Lang. For real.

I saw Lang's first game as a Red Wing, against the Flyers. He had 3 assists. He's a great player, and in the right system, he could be back to tops in the league. I wish him well throughout his career, thats for sure.

 Amazingly, after their Game 6 loss, Detroit Red Wings turnovers were cut in half by 85% after Langs contract expired.

Say what?

Were they cut in half or were they cut by 85%? Or maybe half of 85%?

:P

Lang will not be missed much...Hopefully we can find someone who can score like he can, but actually helps out in other areas here and there as well....

Even though Lang likely wont return, he sure left some good memories behind. Heck without him, we may have not of even gotten out of the first round to begin with. He sure was clutch though. The goal to even things up in game six of the quarterfinals against Calgary was huge. Without that, we probably go to a game seven where anything happens. Then he scores that goal which also lead to the series turnaround against the Sharks. As far as I'm concerned, Robert Lang was the guy who gave our team a second chance in the postseason.

I agree....I think he'll go to another team and light it up....At least I hope he does, whatever team he goes to will instantly become one of my favourites...... :D

My favorite goal by Langer as a Wing! Here

The 2004 playoffs. Man..what a badass goal. He's so strong on the puck.

Don't leave us, Bobby. :(

His greatest goal.......

Coincidentally (or perhaps not? ) I've been tirelessly looking for this clip. I can't rip it from that site, can't rip it from NHL.com because it doesn't go back that far, It's not on YouTube....I even read the entire old video clip thread clinging to the naive hope that the links were still active :P .....

So I turn to LGW: does anyone have this clip in decent quality? It would save me having to make a request thread if I could just get it here.... :)

As someone very wisely pointed out earlier in this thread, that game might not have been 1-2 at the end to begin with had somebody else actually been making good use of the ice-time that Lang constantly pissed away.

Lang made close to $4m per year; no other $4m forward in the league would have been so utterly lazy and terrible as was Lang. He was our 2nd-line center, and was both effectively terrible and generally worthless.

That is so irrelevant, and an excuse to those of you that love to bash the guy. Lang actually had a pretty decent playoffs. He didn't score much, but he sure as hell wasn't the reason the Wings were down at times, and he sure didn't make any big mistakes that would cost the Wings a game, or goal. You guys exaggerate. Big time. You don't like him then fine. But don't discredit him of his two huge season saving goals.

Lang is bashed, in part because he still has a pre-cap salary. I doubt he'll be making anywhere near that now.

Lang was bashed mostly because he was suposed to lead the charge of secondary scoring this season and these playoffs, and for the most part, he didn't.

No one had a problem with Lang's salary until his numbers started to wane.

It'll be tuff for him to find a team in the NHL willing to sign him; may have to head back to Europe to find a new sugar-daddy.

I bet that's not true.

Lang was a disappointment this season, especially at his salary. But he's a big body and can still score goals. He's probably good for 20 goals and 30 assists. Someone will pick him up.

He always got too much crap on this forum, but it probably is time to see him leave. I know I sound like a Barnes brother, I just don't want his roster spot filled by adding another small skill center. Lang never gets enough credit for his strength on the puck.

Strength on the puck? Maybe in practice; IMHO he showed little to no effort, poor judgement, no physical contact - (I could go on & on) throughout the reg season, & into the playoffs...Glad to see him go!

Since this was a contract season - he should've really busted his ballz to prove that he does indeed belong in this league, & that he's worthy of a pay raise.

He wasn't brought here to crash and bang. But he's a big guy, which makes him hard to move off the puck. Like I said, he was a disappointment this season. But he gets more grief here than he deserves.
