After your team is eliminated...who do you root for?

there isn't many options to pick, is it?

I'm going with Sens here. not only because I'd hate to see Pronger raising the cup, but I'd also like to see Alfie winning it and his Conn Smythe. the guy deserves it.

plus, an European captain beating a team with 15 Canadians sounds good to me. about time to show Canadians hockey is not just about them. I mean - I'm not anti-Canadian but I just can't stand claiming the sport is only about Canada. nope, there are many other nations that play it, and the growing contingent of European players is a proof for the international character of this sport.

I'm pulling for the Sens. I don't hate Anaheim, I like their team, but I like the Sens more. A Canadien team winning would be cool, especially since their networks will actually show the WHOLE game when it's on.

In a situation like this, where your team is eliminated and the other team moves on to the finals, do you:

1. Root for the team that eliminated you, so that your team lost to the champs?

or

2. Root for the other team to lay the smack down on the team that eliminated you?

Its usually a choice on a case by case basis. Last year I rooted for Edmonton because they played hard hockey and earned a late seed by playing great, and with the exception of Pronger I thought they had a class group of guys and a solid organization.

Having said that, this year I'll be a Senators fan.

I think on the whole the Ducks management and front end of their organization is pretty classless after seeing the way they handled Pronger's joke of a suspension. Brian Burke is one big joker in a deck of dirty cards. Pronger gets off for a song and they still couldn't admit it was a dirty play, and furthermore they have the audacity to defend that as acceptable, and to put the blame on Homer's "helmet" is laughable.

I just have no respect for that, I suppose if Homer had ended up like Steve Moore they might have had to own up to their BS, but because he's lucky and healthy it goes by the wayside.

So with all things considered, I think Ottawa has a great team and organization, Alfredesson definitely deserves his name on the cup. He's turning into the Sen's Stevie Y, he stuck around since day one through thick and thin, so I think he's due. Also I don't ever want to see Pronger's name etched on, alot of skilled players with poor sportsmanship and tact have already gotten lucky enough to get theirs on it, we don't need anymore. That organization doesn't deserve it, Selanne and Jiggy, sure they're fine by me. But their team's, coaching staff's, and front offices attitude behind them is suspect in my opinion.

So this year its.............Ottawa, the other red team.

GO SENS GO!! :champs:

I usually root for the team that beats us. I didn't last year mainly because the Oilers only beat anyone because of Roloson (I was laughing my ass off when Roloson got injured in Game 1). I won't be rooting for the Ducks, though. Pronger plus the fact that bad reffing and luck decided just about every game in our series doesn't really convince me they deserved to win.

You hit the nail on the head :)

I too supported Edmonton last year after their match up with Detroit, because they worked their asses off and deserved their shot. I was even a little disappointed when they lost.

This year I'm rooting for Ottawa. My husband's been backing the Sens since they took on Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals, mostly due to the Pittsburgh using KC to get a new arena deal... he's still pretty bitter about that. Not that I blame him, but we're due for a CHL team literally down the street from us :) So I'm ok with that.

Go Sens!

I seriously am done with hockey for the year, I think. This wouldn't be so bad if the Finals were really interesting: but come on, Anaheim paired against Ottawa?

That's not even remotely interesting. And I like hockey. They would've been better off having CBC bribe Giguere to let in one of those five scoring chances last night and one more for OT to make a game 7.

I will definitely be rooting for Ottawa, it's a no brainer really.

Can't bring my self to cheer for the classless goons of Anaheim and particularly that ***** Pronger

Ottawa play a good brand of hockey and I will be happy to cheer them on
