Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) Next time if Datsyuk wins it and is in attendance, ive already got the background music they need to use as he walks up to get his award. Lets set the stage: "and the Lady Byng award goes to.....Pavel Datsyuk!" (cue song) "Lady in red....is dancing with me. Cheek to cheek" Or how about my second choice, which is an altered version of an Aerosmith song. Dude plays like a lady Edited June 15, 2007 by Lou_Siffer
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 CONGRATS to my boy Mr. Nick "Norris" Lidstrom!!! What a defensive GOD! And way to go Pavel!!! Stevie Y used to win the Lady Bing, and It's so great to see a Red Wing continuing the classy tradition of the Winged Wheel. What a great night for the Red Wings. I've said it before and I'll say it again, man I love being a Red Wings fan! Yzerman has NEVER won the Lady Byng......
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 Yzerman has NEVER won the Lady Byng...... Maybe he'd have won a few if not for Gretzky...and Oates...and Francis...and about 30 or 40 other guys who'd have beaten him every year. Stevie was the epitome of class, but he was also known for having a fiery temper. That will never win you the Byng.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 this is really starting to make me mad. If it doesnt start soon......I will get everyone I know to send nasty e-mails to Versus.....although I think we should all do that anyways! Better change that from Versus to CBC. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070614.wspt-truth-14/BNStory/Front

They did not e'en pro'ide that ser'ice t' the fans expectin' t' see the show. Gar.

I'm guessing it was less about Gretzky and Oates, and more about some of the things he's said to the refs over the years.
naranja 1 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 Congrats to Lids and Dats! I was really afraid that Pronger would win the Norris. That would have really pissed me of.

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 I can't believe the awards were last night and I forgot to watch or tape them! *kicks dirt* Congrats to Lids and Dats. Very deserving The only way to watch them is live, I wouldn't tape them. They're boring. I watch them just for first hand knowledge of the outcome of every trophy. Kira 451 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) I was happy to see Nick had two of his sons with him last night. That was neat. And I liked Brind'amour telling his son he couldn't have an Ovechkin jersey to wear at Carolina home games - that cracked me up. By the way, did anyone see the article in today's Free Press? Apparently Nick's plane had some technical problems and landed four hours late. Then there was another two hour delay for unloading luggage. So it was Mr. I to the rescue - he put Nick and his family, along with Gordie Howe and Larry Murphy on his private jet and flew them to Toronto so they would get there in time. Just another example of why Mike and Marian Illitch are the classiest owners in sports. Take a bow, Mike! Edited June 15, 2007 by Kira

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) lol I didn't even realize the NHL award show wasn't even on TV - I was out and turned on Vs when I got home - saw the boxing and just assumed it was over. Wow is that lame. They should cancer their contract right then and there. I know it's just an awards show, but there isn't jack on anyways in mid-June....lame, but I guess I didn't miss anything that everyone else didn't miss also! I thought the Ducks fans were all classy and all that kinda stuff? J/k, there are jerks on every board out there, which doesn't define the whole fan base in Anaheim, right? It's human nature to talk smack about the other team's stars - especially when as a Ducks fan, you know the Red Wings just painted a target on your team for the next few years. It's about time we had a decent rivalry, since Colorado is useless in that regard now. If the Wings had been healthy this season, Anaheim would be watching Detroit's Cup parade. Hence, the excessive complaining about Lidstrom. They can't admit he's better than their guys, it wouldn't be loyal. It would correct, however. Lidstrom is better than that other guy... "what's his name?" and Neidermeyer. This season, anyway, and four other times, for sure. I hope Dats comes to terms with his second Lady Byng win. He's a great player and should be proud of winning that trophy. There are plenty of goons who get the headlines, it's appropriate that a Red Wing win the prize as not only the player with the highest standards of play, but one who gets it done without being a thug to accomplish it. Go, Pavel! Can't wait to see you again in the Fall!! PS - to all you guys yappin' about hot wives? I can cool that off. I can't find the pic anymore of Michelle Roy (Patty Waahhh's wife) in the stands when Patty got smacked for the GWG in one of the 2002 playoff games, but she is one scary lady!! If I were Patty, I would have been afraid to get in a fight with her! Edited June 16, 2007 by puckloo39

Go, Pavel! Can't wait to see you again in the Fall!! Pasha said that he was honored to be nominated, but he honestly thought he hit more and had more penalty minutes. Well he might have hit more but he actually had less penalty minutes this season than last. Go figure. You do know that the Wings have had 11 Lady Byng winners...and there is only one other team who has had more, that being the Rangers with 15. If Pasha should win it next year, he and Alex Delvecchio will be the only two Wings to have won it three times...and I don't know if anyone since Alex has won it three times in a row. So that would be pretty cool. I say Pasha, keep on doing what you're doing...we love you just the way you are!

Versus was going to have a live broadcast, but the truck for the CBC broadcast they were carrying caught on fire. It's so hilarious; People complain 'Versus should just use the CBC feed instead of their own broadcast.' Then when they do, it's 'A real network like ESPN would have had their OWN broadcast truck.' WTF?
