MARKOV signs with the Islanders

The Islanders will probably overpay up the ass to get him too.

Not a big loss in my opinion. He was being a real jerk about the money. I don't know how he comes off like he's worth 4 million a season or something, because he's not.

 Its true, where did he get this idea that he holds such a high value?

...not a big deal. Quincey/Kindl will fill in great in the 7th position...

Quincy and Kindl will compete for the 6th spot

if lilija wins meech will be handed the 7th

why have 1 of our 2 best prospects sit in the stands?

If Markov thinks he's worth 4 million, good for him in getting it from the Islanders. Ken Holland needs to focus on our forwards, not the defense which won't be nearly as bad as some think it will be. Waiting ...

Seems like the Russian players really just go for the money and consider themselves way more important than they sometimes are. I loved the Russian Five Era of Wings hockey, but lately I'd just as soon only have two Russians on the team now (Datsyuk and Grigorenko). I was secretly hoping that Markov would stick around, but he just never seemed like a permanent fixture on the team.

 Yeah. North Americans hate money. When was the last time you turned down a promotion?

If another company offered you twice your salary would you switch jobs? Then I guess you're all about the money.

What are you talking about? Didn't you see the contract Ryan Smyth signed with Edmonton for whatever Edmonton could afford? I mean, the discount Smyth took was far beyond that anything that greedy Hasek would consider...the gall of a Vezina contender to demand more than a few hundred thousand dollars! Wait...you say Smyth was traded by the Oilers because he wanted an extra 500k, and Hasek signed for 3m below his market value? Well.....ummm...EUROS ARE TEH SUCK!!!!!

I think Quincey deserves a lot better than 7th defenceman. he made all of 2 MISTAKES that i can remember. For a rookie, that's DAMN GOOD. I'd Promote him. The other choice i have is to Ask Scotty Bowman what he thinks.

Quincey has earned nothing. And unless he looks really impressive in camp, he'll probably be in Grand Rapids so that he gets more playing time. If Markov isn't signed or replaced, Meech will probably be the 7th guy because he is older than Quincey and Kindl and not as good, and Meech cannot be sent down without having to clear waivers. Also, Bowman's track record on developing defensemen is not great. Larry Robinson might be the only significant defenseman who developed under Bowman and turned out well. And Robinson won a Norris in his 4th year in the league, and would be a Norris candidate every year for the next ten.
