i won't miss schneider too much. truth be told i was getting a little sick of him being out of position on defense and i was very very sick of his worthless shots from the point. rafalski will make up for schneider's points and will more than make up for his defense. our offense may just benefit a little as well without 5 to 10 shots flying into the goalies chest from the blue line every night.

Man, I dislike the Ducks as much as any one, but cheering an injury is downright awful.

The same people who are bashing Schneider now, are the same ones who claimed in May that the Red Wings would have beaten the Ducks had he been healthy. Which one is it? Just because Schneider changed uniforms, that instantly makes him a useless hockey player?

Schneider left the Wings to go home, take more money, and play for the best team in hockey. Sounds like all pretty damn good reasons to me. Most people would jump at that opportunity as well. I hold nothing against Schneider for making a good personal and business decision.

Get healthy soon Mathieu!

The Schneider hate is ridiculous... Folks, he freaking LIVES there. Throw out your bs arguments about "oh its all about the money". He would have gotten a similar amount to play here. If I was him I would have done exactly the same thing, and played for a team close to where I lived(oh and where the winters aren't god awful).

Right? I was bummed when Matt left. Our D is already average and it got worse when he made his exit. Sorry people, but he was a good D-man for this team and most of you all know it. And just for the record, if you could change your job to make more money for your family, I'm pretty sure you would do it and not give one single ounce of crap what the folks outside of your business think.

That argument would make sense for the average worker, not star athlete, who at times may struggle to provide for their families and who worry how they'll make it through tax season. Sorry, but the "making more money to better provide for their family" argument simply doesn't work for professional athletes who make more money in a few weeks than most peope do in a year. The only exception, as someone pointed out, is Latrell Sprewell :D . For anyone who doesn't know, that douchbag turned down $7 million per year, saying "I have a family to feed."

the duckys are stacked enough they can affored a injury, if you still show love for "Money Bags Matt" then you got love for him and if you dont then you dont i sure as hell won't show him love anymore. thats hockey...thats every sport as soon as a fan favorite player leaves the team ESPECIALLY to a team that just won the a championship and is filled with goons of course we are gonna hate on em, thats how us fans show what we think of "business."

OH and lucky or me I LIVE IN SO CAL so i get to see even more fans jump on the bang wagon like my cousin, but think about how LA fans must feel about "money bags matt" they had a lot of love for him too, i'm stoked to see when they play the ducks in LA. seriously i HATE goin to LA to see red wings games those fans...haha bunch of crazies i'm tellin you i almost got in a fight there and i didn't even start anything, good times.

And I can guaran-dam-tee you that if this was just a run-of-the-mill job and one of us was in a similar scenario, we'd at the very least strongly consider the opportunity to re-locate.

I like the Red Wings just like every other person in here but it simply astounds me that people so easily forget that to many of these players, this is how they make a living, just like how we make a living M-F 9-5 or whatever jobs we might do.

Sometimes you have a chane of heart in where you want to work. Money might be a factor, sometimes it isn't. While I like my job a lot right now and don't make a lot of money at it, I don't know if I want to work at it in 10 years or remain here. I might want to move somewhere else.

It's not all about the Red Wings to these players, it's not all about their favorite team, or our favorite team. These people can re-locate or move to different places to work/play, under proper terms, just like you, I, or anybody else even though we aren't professional athletes.

You do know that Schneids played for a couple teams before he came to Detroit, right? If I have a job offer from another company that is going to afford me years of stability and more money, I'm going to go work for that other company and never look back.

Our D was not average and is not worse. Our D is one of the top in the league and it has not taken a step back. In fact I would say that it took a step forward with the loss of Schneids and the addition of Rafalski. I don't know how many times I saw a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 or 3 on 2 develop because the puck jumped of Schneid's stick at the blue line.

The Schneider hate is pretty ridiculous. He only played here for about 3 1/2 seasons. If he had spent his whole career here, then up and left, that'd be one thing. But he's played for numerous teams before he came here. And since he also lives in California, it makes sense for him to play close to home.

To actually wish the guy harm and cheer for injury is stupid. I could understand that treatment for Bertuzzi... he's a piece of s*** anyways that deserves anything he gets. But Schneider is a good guy, and has done nothing wrong.

Good luck Matty, and get better soon.

(plus, you all seem to forget the fact that our replacement, Rafalski, is a better player)

Not to be a prick, but I recall you being quite upset about the dismantling of last season's roster (e.g. dropping, Lang, Calder, etc.) despite the fact that said dismantling was essentially "business."

You can be upset which what she is about those changes, but I think she was more referring to the fact of her earlier statement where just becaue he is on another team people now are hatting on the Matty. I doubt she will be hating on Lang and Calder just because they are on another team.

If I am wrong Reem, sorry.

That's exactly it. I was upset. I knew it was 'business' but I was pissed because Kyle and Robert were both one of my faves.

There's a difference between being upset compared to someone cheering on a former Wing being injured just because he left the team.

You are right on. ;)

I can't help but wonder if this might factor into Niedermayer's decision to return or not...The Ducks could REALLY use him now.

Shouldn't make any difference. Schneider will be gone 4 weeks. And they still have about 2 weeks until the season starts. It's not a big deal.

The Ducks are in big trouble now. No Niedermayer or Schnieder.

Pronger-O'donnell

Beahchemin-Huskins

Hnidy-Dipenta

Ouch

Not, a big loss, for only 2 weeks of the season.... They will be fine, its all about the playoffs anyways.

Why would Schneider's injury affect the salary cap?

If it did you might be seeing a lot of Owners putting hits on their high paid players to get some wiggle room under the cap lol
